I liked this, Linwelly.  I especially like the whole sort of double exposure thing you did with this.  I haven't played with this type of technique, but I'm finding that I kind of like how the finished product looks when it is applied well.  You did it well.

Thanks a lot knitting! Well I know there is some possibility to do this in DAZ as well but here I made it in postwork, wouldn't even know where to look for that in DS right now.

I think there was a double exposure product not all that long ago for DS, but haven't really looked at it since it came out.  I don't know exactly how it works since I don't have it.  I have looked at how to do this in Gimp, but I haven't actually tried it myself.  I do like how yours turned out.

I just finished reading the latest DS Creative.  I saw your image with the stones and the Celtic designs!  Looked good!

I haven't used it either so not sure if it would work for you Linwelly.

Me too.  I love seeing images from people I know.  Makes me so happy to see them being featured.

Thanks a lot everybody, actually getting a render features DS creative isn't so difficult, obvious they like to get lots of different renders. Getting to win a price seems much harder. I tried for this issues contes with this render but that was not successfull. Well I will try again, though not this new contest... have no idea whatsoever to make of that one.

Thanks for the link, well I guess for teh time being I stick with postwork, leaves me more options while being cheaper devil. I'm rather proud about the progress I made in the postworks section. And once I can incorpaorate my bryce things things will be even more fun.

Some more maples, I couldn't decide which DOF I like better so I did them both.

Oh those maples are lovely!  They are currently residing in my wishlist.  I did get the elven outfit but haven't used it yet.  Love the Bryce background.  Something else I need to pull out and play with some more.  Never enough time in the day.

Love the 2nd image Linwelly.  I have the Maples but haven't used them yet.

DOF is so much fun to play with. Both are great images, I can see why you couldn't choose :)

  • KnittingmommyKnittingmommy Posts: 8,191

I think they are both very nice.  It is hard to choose between them as they both have really good qualities!

Thanks a lot all of you, I'm not done with maples yet but in the meantime I try to go for some contests again (got to finance my hobby someway, no?)

I believe its actually ok to post the pc contest renders here so here comes the Nöck, someplaces called Neck or Nix, male waterspirit who lures the ladies away.

Oh, nice one, Linwelly.  Is that 3Delight or Iray?  I like the bloom you got on the lights.  Can you do bloom in 3Delight?  I love the atmosphere of the render.

Thanks a lot knitting, this is 3delight (still not ready for Iray myself laugh, but when I see all the things I still don't know for 3delight I won't be for another year...)

From what I understand about Iray this does not work like bloom in Iray. Its a neat little trick with a wonderful shader called glow that hides in the depth of shader builder. Basically I have a linear point light and put s sphere around it, that sphere gets the glow shader, adjust the colour, done. I used the same in the sacred render with the magic between the ancient stones. In this one I added a full power ambient to the waterlillies in the same colour.

I get impressed by everything you guys can do in 3Delight.  While I'm getting slightly better with it, I still get frustrated that it isn't as intuitive with me as Iray as I would love to be good at using both.  I think I might try this out the next time I'm playing with 3Dlelight again.  I'll shout out if I have any questions.

Ah well it sometimes becomes a pain to squeeze the info into my brain, but then again that's the the way my brain works I guess. I do like to have control on the things that happen in my renders like where comes which light etc...

wanders off to feel a bit more of that pain while studiing the 3delight laboratory thread...

Here is a new one I made for the pc contest, again with 3delight, this time I used a bit of postwork mainly to adjust a little for the light and dark. Its called easy prey, guess why?

Thanks a lot Sonja, she was the result of experimenting with skin and the LIE to get scales working, happened already some time back but never made it into a render.

Here is a reals quicky, started out as a test for the braided hair by mortem vetus, which is for M4, but I fitted it to a g2m of my own making, for fun I added the gobo lights I got new as well.. now he's Sniper and entered into the oc contest as well. Was the work of a splitted up afternoon. As usual rendered in 3delight, no postwork this time.

I bought that hair but until I get things back in order on the pc its giong to be a couple of days before I can really test it out.  LOVE the use of the gobo lights it totally makes the scene.  Very well done!

Thanks a lot both of you, you should really try it Kismet, I'm quiet fond of it, here are two more renders with it, I made for Novicas thread, so nothing specifically artistic, the guy will probably make it to my standart character list though. I tried those light for the first time there pretty intuitive to work with and you are right Sonja, they are an easy means to give a render something more special.
