It's not all laughs all the way through, but hard for me to be completely serious throughout anything. I think people often are silly and joke around even in very grim situations, so I try to inject some levity into everything I do.
The books have started appearing in iBooks and Barnes & Noble and Scribd and Kobo (I'll have to change my websites and put in links to all the places where they are). Next I need to get people to write reviews on Smashwords, or Amazon or wherever else, and work out how to do some serious marketing. Other than here and on my own little blogs I haven't done a whole lot.
Well, I probably won't finish it tonight...but I'll say I'm liking it so far.
My stories are now available in multiple ebook stores, which you can see listed on my site here (those are the ones I've found. There may be more, as well as of course local versions of those sites and others in the future. In the meantime, here is Tenley Tych responding to an old sixties advertisement by saying, 'Okay!':
Oh, and don't think you can still use the code on Smashwords to get 100% for the rest of this month: ND72U
I know she's your character and all...but even black hearts don't seem like something Tenley would willingly have in her wardrobe...
She's quite a girly girl, at least in private when no one's looking. At least she was, you know, before... now, she's not really bad as such. Just kind of sad, and angry. Very angry.
To be honest though, I don't think she pays much attention to her wardrobe and mostly just 'borrows' what she finds or accepts whatever she's given. The only thing she's adamant about is that she likes the Bear hoodie.
Yes, her 'public' face, at least from what I've read so far is not 'girly-girl'. I'm really liking this one...
She was raised to be tough. But there is a soft side hidden in there, deep, deep down. And she is still a kid and kind of wants to be mothered at least a little bit. Plus she's kind to animals, usually, like the Magpie we saw earlier in the thread. And Squirrels.
The next thing I've got to do it seems is make a cover for the series. In addition to The Little Queen, there's also this novelette and another novel I'm writing now (which I'll have to do a cover for as well). It's not a series like Game of Thrones where it's all just one long story. More like detective novels where each book is a different story with the same characters with perhaps a few little threads and personal develoment for each of them. Indeed the sequel I'm writing is a different type of story altogether than the first one as it involves more of dungeon crawl through the second half of it.
I'm thinking maybe a group picture like this one, but with the trees further back so you can see the lighthouse in the background and maybe some creepy eyes staring out of the woods. Perhaps a robot as well...
I've just got this so far:
Maybe I'll add in a robot and some 'creatures' hiding behind them.
I've also got to write a blurb for the series, rather than the individual stories. Again, this is what I've come up with so far:
'The world is undergoing an awakening, as the things that were once just the stuff of dreams and fantasy are being given life. Not by magic, but through ingenuity, science and technology.
But through such times there must also be heroes to protect and guide and, when necessary, fight against the darkest of those creations and those who would abuse their power.'
Here's a quick render I did, as I want to start doing some more action scenes:
As I've mentioned, I want to render more characters and more actual scenes from the stories, but right now I am very busy writing. I have blogs on Tumblr, and about a month ago started a blog on Wordpress too, which is going okay. At the moment, I'm mostly posting excerpts from the story I'm currently working on. I also repost my pictures on there, as well as other, mostly sci-fi related stuff and book reviews.
Also, there are a couple days left you can use that coupon to get the first story free from Smashwords (until Tuesday, May 31st). The code is: ND72U
Hello. I haven't posted any illustrations for a while. Haven't really made many to be honest. I keep meaning to upgrade to Genesis 3 and redesign these characters from (these versions were only put together for the purpose of making some quick book covers and profiles, and I still haven't hot Kaya's clothing or hair quite right). But I don't have the money right now and I'm busy writing a second novel (which will cost more money, as I intend to send it to a professional proofreader instead of my nephew who is useless). I've written a few novellas too, so I did a quick render of a scene from one of them.
I told a bit of lie before - Tenley really isn't girly deep down at all. I mean, she does occasionally like to dress up, sing, dance, crush enemies beneath her heel, and other things normal girls like. But I guess most of the things that really interests are not seen as traditionally girly. Like she's quite fascinated by Dinosaurs and watches all the TV shows and reads books about them. So, you can imagine she was very excited when she got to meet an actual Velociraptor... only this happened:
It’s a Deinonychus!
She loudly insists as she punches out a Velociraptor. In fact not only does it not have feathers, but I couldn’t find any Velociraptor/Deinonychus figures for this quick render, so that part is being played by a model labelled as Utahraptor. Thus further angering her with its inaccuracy.
And that was a scene from the latest novella, Frontier of Forever.
