Backdrop Issue

Everytime I load a subset the backdrop color reverts to black.  I've already tinkered with the preferences but nothing seems to stop this.  I just want the backdrop color to remain what I've chosen.

    Which backdrop color....the Background Color when choosing Backdrop type in Environment pane ?

    Hi, Stretch. That's a frustrating situation. Could you perhaps provide a screenshot of what's showing up as black?
