How would you create a footprint or pawprint?

I have a scene I'm soon to work on for my comic that is scripted to feature a character looking down at the foot/paw print of an antagonist. How would you accomplish that in Daz, if at all? I'm thinking a smoothing or Dforce modifier applied to a primitive, but I'm wondering if there are best practices for this that I'm not aware of and/or not thinking of.
