When I saw "final week" advertised for the premier sale, my immediate thought was "great, probably followed by ANOTHER catch-up weekend and probably a 'surprise' extension" and this started going through my head:

This is the sale that never ends
It just goes on and on my friends
    Some people started shopping it
    Not knowing what it was
Now they'll go on shopping it
    Forever just because...

I mean, maybe they won't. Maybe I'll get lucky. I've spent more literally every other month than I have during the sale celebrating the 25th anniversary. At this rate, even without the holidays coming, a return to "regular old sales" would be welcome. At least then there's hope for an interesting orange banner.

Well this weekend was a pretty amazing sale. For premier members with 8 tokens almost all Daz original items from last year and older were 97-98% off.

...an experience that is not universal. Glad you had a good weekend, but I'm ready for a change that brings some decent prices for those of us who are not premier members with 8 tokens.

I didn't actually buy anything because there was so much that was a great deal that I couldn't figure out what to spend the rest of my credit on, so I just sat on it for another sale. My point being, though, for the several years I have been with Daz, most of the greatest discount sales required complex cart jenga, hefty buy ins, lots of contiguous daily purchases for punches, or a combination of all. A normal buyin to qualify for the really good sales was typically around $20 to $100 usually leaning around the higher side. Even with just daz+ I would have considered this one of the best yearly sales once you had 8 tokens. Since the creation of daz tokens, the tokens themselves have essentially become part of the buyin for many sales, meaning that to get the best price on a large number of things you would need to spend $80 as the first part of the buyin, after which, your next cart would be the big discounted cart with the 8 tokens. Some big buyers would gamble on buying $40 of stuff on Monday or Tuesday for 8 tokens in hopes that they would be useful later in the week for a good discount. This is why I hated tokens when they first came out because it kept up a pretty large regular buy in, to maintain the current best price. Tokens lasting 2 weeks now instead of 4 days is huge and makes being ready for a big sale much less expensive then it was. As far as punch cards, usually you needed 3 days of consecutive qualifying purchases to trigger the best discount and if you missed a day, you started back over with your discount majorly needed. A lot of folks would forget, then get upset because they let their punch card lapse right before or when one of the best sales would occur usually around November-December. As far as jenga for many of the best sales you had to buy items from like 3 or 4 separate categories of new releases from the previous days some of which required multiple buyins just for 1 part of the qualifying sales to maximize the stacking discount and achieve the best discount price. So in comparison this past weekend required 8 tokens for best price which they have pretty much established as the new norm over the past year, daz+ or premier, no punch cards, no complex cart jenga. If you wanted non DO items the sale was not that great, but if you wanted DO items and were willing to meet the buy in for 8 tokens first, it was amazing. Probably the best sale I have seen. I could have had the $400+ staff pick fantasy bundle for like $8. The gen 8.1 mega bundles were between $5-7 each. The gen 8 and 8.1 pro bundles were $3.80. The gen3 pro bundles were $2.80. The gen 9 DO bundles from last year were 97% off with needing 8 tokens and a single $2 daz+ buyin.

Not even universal if you are Premier but don't have the budget to routinely get 8 tokens then turn around & spend them on another big cart - Rinse & Repeat.

So I am ready for a sale for "Everyone Without 8 Tokens." Which I hope November & December are.

with a Premier membership, you get 2 tokens per $10 spent. If you buy Monday or Tuesday you double tokens, so for little cash flow, $20, you can get 8 tokens. They also last 14 days now, so it gives you better opportunities. I realize not everyone can just plop down the cash though, I'm in that category. Broke you're broke.

I bit the bullet a week ago and traded in my Daz+ for Premier. The sale this past week has been good with 8 tokens and Premier, although I haven't been seeing better prices than previous sales with Daz+ and tokens.  Possibly on par, which is what I personally anticipated when they introduced a new tier 'above' Daz+.

I've no interest in paying a Premier membership when mine expires. My conversion to Premier is only to grab what I can and then slash my spending.

I rarely have tokens. I don't rely on them. I'm a cherry picker. There have been long stretches when I had no membership and I still did ok. There was the year I spent $50 the whole year... That was ok, too. Dunno what I'm doing when my Daz+ expires next month. Maybe taking a long break from buying stuff? We'll see.

Please don't put Shari Lewis back in my head, I've just got Imagine Dragons out of it for the day!

Maybe, but most of Daz's good sales have been based on having 8 tokens since they released them as a thing. The exception is when they have some good sales that don't allow stacking with tokens as they can then base the discount price around noone getting to use them.

Obviously if tokens apply they will give lower prices than not having tokens, but I am not sure that means that the sales are not good without - I have frequently had or used fewer than eight this month and last (meaning the PA and Daz+ sales, not just October and a bit of November).
