Even though I am +/Pre, I'd also like an easy way to hide Daz+. Sometimes I am not interested in those - like if I am trying to use the D0 coupon.
Filters has a checkbox to only show Daz+, how about adding separate boxes to to hide Daz+ and textures.
Is the coupon code today not working? Am I missing something?
Yeah the coupon generates an invalid. I reported it. 2nd issue in this sales series. Sloppy.
Fixed now.
Is there a resemblance to some IP I'm unaware of in Common Area, or is the EL bot malfunctioning again?
(That is, is this editorial license genuine?)

I have Topaz Gigapixel AI. It's pretty decent at scaling old textures up. However, Topaz is pricy and if all you need to do is upscale, I also got good results from Upscayl, which is free and open source. You can, basically, scale up 4x without loss of quality. I've used it on old backdrops and skies to good effect.
I don't have Topaz' other programs. I wanted to try Topaz Photo AI, but their website is now an annoying nuisance, and they no longer seem to have downloadable demos, which is a sine qua non.
I was trying a couple of other 'AI' programs (because Upscayl is not designed for this) to see if they could cope with existing JPEG compression artifacts in old textures, because some of them look fine from middle distance, but you can't zoom in on them. So far, this hasn't worked. I have not so far found anything that can cope with eliminating the artifactual noise, then sharpening and upscaling the signal. They have interesting capabilities, but calling all these new programs 'AI' is language dilution.
Later: in praise of Topaz Gigapixel AI: I decided to try a technique suggested by Dolby in sound. I scaled up a 4k ground texture with compression artifacts x4, with the correction for compression artifacts turned up fairly high, practically eliminating them. The upscaled texture then looked much better zoomed in. Then I scaled it back down. I tried scaling back down/4 and back down/2. Both look decidedly better than the original when I'm zoomed in, but the 4k version would still show pixellation if I wanted to zoom in on the ground, so I'm keeping the 8k version.
Is it just me, or is this Black Friday Promotion really as screwed up as it seems to be? I've dumped over $600 worth of carts over the past two days as the discounting either hasn't worked properly when I doublechecked the math or, in multiple cases, the codes haven't done anything at all even though they're showing as having been applied.
I'm a bit disappointed. I was hoping for all 3 days of the Pre Black Friday deals to be included in the final catchup but it looks like only today's items are included. Oh well as they say 'There is always another sale'.
I don't think there will be any real sales before Friday.
hopefully there will be a little something tomorrow. My tokens run out
Well. I do hope for a decent Gift card sale. Because meh, good or really good promos will be not good at all without credit.
And by decent i mean not requiring buying things i don't need or spend huge amounts for a good discounts. I can deal with daz+ and premier having bigger discounts (planning a 1 month sub if the promo is decent).
Very disappointed with the last few days, as the codes seemed not to work. Largely given up
I thought about just putting together test carts with only my non-Daz+ WL items and a current code to see if anything discounted; doable since I have only about 200 items in my WL. But I decided to read a book instead. And that was before I saw posts about code malfunctions.
Have I mention I don't like this sale structure? A flash sale with expiration date/time stated is great once in while. A promotion that is in effect a days-long series of flash sales? NOPE!
today is terrible. I cannot get a decent cart no matter. Thus, no membership takes its toll immediately. The one thing evident though, pricing here at DAZ has gone up a lot. I know it gets downplayed, but its a fact. I currently have 20 tokens, 8 expire Wednesday and the rest on Thursday, both at 7;00 UTC, whatever time that is.
Yeah, I admit I took one look at it and went "nah, those percentages aren't NEARLY worth the effort of dealing with the hassle" -- especially when they won't even stack with the monthly coupons -- and gave the entire weekend a miss.
I guess the one thing about a stinky sale structure being advertised as multi-day... you know not to get up your hopes for the next day.
Today i actually see a couple things i'll be willing to pay debut price to build tokens. Sadly i have no credit
I ended up buying nothing during the sale. Normally, I'm a sucker for stuff like this. Oh well, more money to spend in December!
I still have unused coupons. Hoping end of month is brighter.
I bought $11 worth of stuff yesterday just to use up a coupon and do something with a couple of tokens that expired last night at midnight. It was the only thing I've bought in days. Still loaded with tokens, with a burgeoning wishlist, waiting for a dream sale: a wishlist sale that includes new items, stacking discount, and - if buying new stuff is needed to trigger either or both - new stuff that I'm going to buy for sure, which I would pick up at "new today" sale prices to trigger good enough deals.
I'm confused about what's supposed to be so special with the "weekend new releases are back!"
...aren't those just "Still New" releases?
...don't we ALWAYS have "Still New" releases?
The weekend was just the two previous days; they haven't gone anywhere to come back from. It's not like... resurrecting something from last month, or March, or when they have an "all releases from 2024 back as Still New" or whatever. (Or the "mid-month catch-up" sales that just make me roll my eyes because... guess what, if I didn't want them from the last two weeks, I still don't want them now!)
I know marketing is marketing that that's just the nature of the beast, to some extent... but what they're trying to pass off as exciting, amazing deals is just absurd. You can talk up the meatloaf dinner as much as you want... but it's still meatloaf.*
(*No shade to those who like meatloaf.)
meatloaf is one of my favorite meals. Daz 3D used to be my favorite 3D vendor.
Not exactly. 'Still New' is a term mostly used during sale periods (march madness or lates Premier sale) and usually involves some kind of combination discount or trigger. Outside special months, each day 'debut' promotion last for a few days; but during special sales only the debut page (+ core figure release) are mantained, then 'still new' is used to 'compensate'.
Since Friday to Sunday behaved similar to those sales and had a special time limit. Then all those items are lost from their original release window. So i guess Daz is giving those items (and PAs) an extra chance.
(Also guess, since those last 6 hour sales had too many problems, they probably also sold less than intended).
Huh... I guess we've just had so many "special" sales that it seems like the norm at this point.
Regardless, I still think things ought to... I dunno, go somewhere?... before they come "back".
Reminds me of when I tried to play peek-a-boo with my daughter as a baby. She grabbed my hands and pulled them away with a purturbed look, as if I'd sincerely insulted her intelligence.
I can relate. I first came here during a March Madness. Poor me, didn't knew what normal meant, i felt so lost when i stop seeing 'still new', key item trigger and every day something different to calculate.
True. Is not like they did last month bringing almost the complete 2024 of 'new' releases.
I didn't bother with the percentage discounts. The "Buy two of today's new releases to get 1/3/5 items from the categories for 4.99/3.99/2.99", on the other hand... that was worthwhile. There were a few new items that I would usually have wishlisted and waited for a better sale, but it was worth getting them for a mere 44% off when that came with a Gen 9 mega bundle for under $5, and a few of Stonemason's older bundles for less than $3 each.
Sounds like you got a great deal! None of the new stuff was anything I'd use, so I admit I didn't even look at those because of the buy-in necessary. But then, none of the mega bundles are anything I need urgently (though some fall under the "pretty, might play with it eventually" category), so if I wait long enough they'll just get cheaper. Always another sale. :)
I'm not surprised that DAZ has cooled things a bit; we're between major sales right now. Even with that, I was able to get some good deals over the weekend as they offered things at a markdown without a buy-in (the buy-in offer didnt' reduce the prices, it only allowed you to buy more items at the same mark-down). In the process I added to my small pile of tokens.
We're only days away from what hopefully will be another big sale.
