GenX2 all buttons and options greyed and "No definitions found" error

I have the addons for V 4.2 and Gen 2. The plugin is connected, the serial key is entered. But nothing works. When I drag any morphs into the interface, the cursor changes to a crossed out circle.
There are no characters to select in the transfer tab, and the Source and Load Figure buttons are greyed out and don`t work.
Error log on plugin interface says "No source figure definitions found" and "No target figure definitions found"

All my morphs are stored in "C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library", maybe this is the problem?

That's the default install path, so it's unlikely to be the problem.

There's no add-on for V4.2, V4.2 and Genesis 1 are included in the base GenX2 program.

Do you maybe have the original GenX installed? You can't have both GenX and GenX2 installed at the same time.

What's the version of GenX 2 in the dialogue of About Installed Plugins... ?

Definitely not, since the list of plugins for G only includes Gen2X and Game Developer Bundle. Also, I am more than sure that I did not install version 1, since I initially downloaded version 2.

    Version :
    2.1.0.0

The latest ver. is 2.1.1. Though I've not used for quite a while but I checked it with the latest DS version 4.22...  it seems working well.

If you don't have 2.1.1, just update it and try again...

Thanks, the update helped. But now another problem has appeared - I cannot select Gensis 2 as a Target. More precisely, I cannot choose anything as a Target. I dragged all the Victoria 4.2 morphs I needed into the morphs window, they were added and mixed, but I can’t move forward. When trying to create a morph, an error occurs - No morphs are selected / There are no morphs with non-zero values. I have the Genesis2 addon for Gen2X, but it seems to be installed incorrectly or not working.

It looks like you are very good at this this plugin. I installed DAZ3D just to convert several Victoria 4.2 morphs mixed together into a single Genesis2 morph to use in another program.

Could you do this for me? I would give you the morphs you need, and you would convert them. Because I’m not familiar with Daz and after this problem another one will obviously arise, and after receiving the morph I no longer need Daz3d at all.

No, that would be redistributing the content which is not allowed under the license.

As Richard said, I'm also not allowed to do so for you... but I may give clues and suggestions. First, you need to have this product for G2 - https://www.daz3d.com/genx2-addon-for-genesis-2 Have you owned and installed it ?

Then, here's a complete tutorial - https://www.sharecg.com/v/82334/view/3/Text-Entry-Tutorial/COF-GenX-Plugin-Tutorial from which I learnt years ago. Pretty comprehensive. Pls give it a check and try.

I haven;t used GenX2 for a while, but don't you need to select the Target Figure (G2F in your case I presume?) with that "Target" dropdown?

  • crosswindcrosswind Posts: 6,986

It seems that OP selected G2F as there's a node avatar on the figure in the above screenshots ~~

I added G2F to the scene and selected it, but when I click on the Target field just nothing happens.

Yes, of course I have it. But I don't see anything in the Target field, even when I select Genesis2. In Warnings, it writes an error for Genesis (probably meaning Genesis 1, which I don’t have installed)

Maybe try installing Genesis (original  "1") Starter Essentials and see if that helps?

  • LeanaLeana Posts: 11,718

If you look at the product page it says this:

Morphs transferred from Victoria 4 or Michael 4 to Genesis 2 can be used with the following base shapes:

the Generation 4 Legacy Shapes for Genesis 2 Female(s) from Slosh
the V4 and M4 Shapes for Genesis from DAZ 3D (requires transfer to Genesis 2)
the clone shapes (transferred automatically to Genesis 2)

So unless you have the G4 legacy shapes for G2 installed, I think you do need to have Genesis 1 installed so it can use the clone shapes for the transfer.

No ~~ if the product files were correctly installed, they should be found in this folder: %appdata%\DAZ 3D\Studio4\GenX2

Check in DIM and the above folders, make sure the required files are right there. Relaunch DS, then you should get the figures in Source and Target Lists ~~

Hm-m, wondering what is in your AppData/Roaming/DAZ 3D/Studio4/GenX2 folder? (Type %APPDATA% in an address bar in a file explorer window, and follow the folders down). That's where the data files (*.gx*) are stored.

Apparently you lost 2 required key files there in the folder ~~

    Genesis2F.gxt
    Genesis2M.gxt

These two files determine whether you can see G2 in the list or not... Try reinstalling the latest version of "GenX2 Addon for Genesis 2"... or directly extract files from IM package to GenX2 folder ~~ Then relaunch DS..

  • Thanks to everyone who responded! I am very glad that there are so many people on this forum who are ready to help newbies. I solved the problem differently - I applied all the necessary morphs on the Victoria 4.2 character, exported it as .OBJ and, using 3DSWRAP, adjusted the standard Genesis2 character to it and exported it as a morph. Since V4 and G2 are very similar overall, the result is excellent. In many places the morph is so well adjusted that if you turn on both characters the textures overlap and ripple.

Good experiment ! I also just use FaceForm Wrap nowadays to complete the same type of tasks... but only on non Daz models.
