Hitomi's Day Out hair texturing (WIP)

It's been a while and I finally have some free time. I apologize in advance if my post is a bit weird. I'm trying to get the hang of these forums.

Anyway, I'm trying to make a hair texture for Hitomi’s Day Out based on a specific hair color I like to use on a particular character. It's an ombré-like color. I should've saved the screenshot, but I figured out the maps with exporting the hair to Sculptris then painting it. Then I proceeded to rework the hair color I had originally made with some hair brushes from the store (Mane Attraction). Then tried to fit the hair color onto the maps. So it looks something like this:

(If you want to use the texture, as is, then go ahead since all I did was make it with brushes and not use any of the actual hair from the resource. And like the hair, the transmap is nothing but overlapping brushes to make the hair look different.) I also did the transmaps, but I know they need work. I will see if I can redo them soon. Here's how they look like on the character in question.

I thought I had messed up because unrendered it looks awful. I don't even know how her headband disappeared, but it rendered alright. I'm not happy with the ends of the hair, that's why I plan on redoing them. I need to make the hair more fine. I could also redo the hair I tried to fit into the maps too...

 

If you have any suggestions for this or other colors that would look good in this style, please let me know.

    I changed the transmap. Made it a bit too transparent, but I think it looks much better. I also made the hair, at least the top part a bit darker and that helped it out too. Just need to work on the middle bang and it'll be perfect.

    Playing around with Sculptris and GIMP, I decided to make another color just for fun.

    I guess that's it for this thread. I don't see the need to update anymore since I've come close to accomplishing my goals.
