Extracting UVs from clothing to make my own textures/recolors

Some creators will give you the UV templates to make your own textures with their products, but most don't. How do I get at those in a product that doesn't supply them seperately? And how do I use them afterwards? Is there a video on this somewhere I can refer to? Thanks in advance.

If you in the surface tab select one or more surfaces, and switch Viewport to UV view, you can see how they look. But that will be low resolution.

So when I need UV maps, I export to blender, and get the UV map from there.

Most 3D apps should be able to export UV maps, although I am not sure if Hexagon can that.

Well, Hexagon "can" do a screengrab for the uv maps. I would highly recommend using another program, or trying for the screengrab from D/S.

There are several uv utilities, some free ones, that do a very nice job. Of course, if one is up to the challenge, there's Blender.

If you want to export UV layout in DS, this plugin works pretty well - https://www.daz3d.com/uv-tailor Or as others said, send the item to Blender for exporting UV layout, which is pretty simple. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYpi77Ymo5Q&t=146s

As for making textures based on UV layout(s), I only know there's a comprehensive tutorial in this product - https://www.daz3d.com/texturing-clothing-and-props-expert-guide-tutorial-course which is a "traditional way". Nowadays, we most of the time paint textures in Blender or Adobe Substance Painter...
