On thing that brings your figures to life is your mastery of facial expressions. Well done.
Thank you very much! It's incredibly satisfying when a custom character grows into their facial expressions, when a given expression looks obviously wrong or obviously right on them.
The results of combining a posing exercise with trying out the character Akhane. I'm not entirely happy with how the thumb-in-waistband turned out, but fixing it to my satisfaction would have meant spending far too much time on something intended to be quick.

I made this for the "floating islands" event on Creative Brew. At the time I planned for it to be the first in a series, but it didn't work out that way.
My guideline for building this scene was "if I still have VRAM to spare, it's not done yet." Everything you see in the image exists as an object in the scene, nothing was added in post, so this about as big and complex as it can get and still render in one pass.
The actual floating islands seen in the background is my very first attempt to sculpt an asset from scratch in Blender. The result was objectively Not Good in just about every possible way, but I knew exactly what it needed to do, and it was Good Enough for that.

I am constantly crossing my fingers he will get an equally amazing G9 version. It makes creating art a little awkward, but it's worth it.
You are probably right, but if I have to choose between perfect realism and effective storytelling, I will always lean towards the latter.
This absolute nonsense was made for the "cosmic horror" event on Creative Brew. It's my most complex and time-consuming work to date, with lots of tiny details and easter eggs, including one that has never been spotted so far.
In addition to making the scene, I also did multiple voice recordings for the soundtrack made by my amazing collaborator Griesmeel.
Like Floating Islands, this one is a VRAM-buster, and the only time I've had to dig out Scene Optimizer to squeeze the scene into 24 GB.

Did you do something to make the perspective a little cockeyed? It just looks off to me. Like one of those medeval paintings made before they really understood perspective. Maybe it's just the subject matter.
It's rendered with an orthographic camera to open up the view and give it a touch of that old 2.5D look.
This was my entry into the Crazy Fashion Kitbash contest on the 3D Shards forums, and features many hours of texturing work to turn single garments into outfits.

I made this as a test render when the Michael 9 bundle was released, and thought it turned out nice.

I made a comment how this shirt texture looked like something a certain type of tosser would wear, and was immediately punished/rewarded with making the comment into a promo picture for the shirt. That should teach me to keep my big mouth shut.
