Carrara's lights going out - preferences settings changing to black

For some reason, my preference settings are getting changed. What is particularly problematic is that the color palette for the interface is being set to black. If I reset all preferences, I lose other things I don't want to change. Otherwise I have to set new colors for the interface each time I open Carrara.
Has this ever happened to anyone else?
EDIT - EXPLANATION - the lights in the scenes are not being turned off. It is that the color settings for all the backgrounds, grids, selections, outlines etc are all black, which is like having the lights turned off.

did you add any windows apps lately that change themes and skins to black or dark?
maybe something like Windows Blinds or similar...
Glad you fixed it !
I've had this happen since I've upgraded to Windows 11 a long time ago. I have to go back and change it every time.
This happened before I installed WinBlinds, and I don't change into light/dark themes as the time of day changes.
I think it's an issue saving/retrieving the preferences file, as the numbers for colors are always astronomically large, hence all becoming black.
If you have a solution, let me know. I love Carrara, and I hate abandoning it.
I wo der if you could hange the preferences txt to read only.?
or maybe in advanced security settings create a new rule or firewall settings blocking that blinds program from accessing the Carrara folder or something
I always need to google this stuff but I had to at one point actively stop Windows 10 from removing several programs including iClone, Octane render and even possibly Carrara too (I don't remember but definitely the first 2) creating a new Firewall rule
Thanks for the suggestions. Frankly, I did not restore the defaults. I set and saved new colors, then saved the preferences. Not a very good solution to recommend to others, but it worked for me in this case. Now if I post new screenshot tutorials my UI will look strange.
Maybe caused by another task/process that is also accessing the preferences.txt file.
- OneDrive
-> consider excluding the AppData folder from OneDrive
- windows indexing process (used by File Explorer search option)
-> check that the AppData folder is excluded (Settings > System > Privacy & security > Searching Windows)
- WindowsBlinds
-> exclude Carrara from WindowsBlinds
