render parameters under cog missing - tried solutions found in search

Hi,

I'm in quite a conundrum. In the middle of working last night my parameters feature under the cog button disappeared.

I did my googlefu and found this solution of reconfiguring parameters under “workspace layout”?

However, I can’t find it. So, I found these directions.

I found a layout dse. File but when I  clicked on it, all it did was cause my PC to crash. Any suggestions resolving this issue would be most appreciated.
