Why do the new, "Morphing Gemstones" not respond at all to a Daz spotlight?

They respond to ambient light from a HDRI but when set to scene only they remain black when other light sources are used.

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

It does respond to light. But in order to light a gem, you need several lightsources, or if only one some surrounding that has a high gloss (reflects).

A gem is essentially a multifacetet reflector, so if no light  no reflection.

Without a Dome HDRI, you at least need an interior e.g a sphere or a cube primitive for bouncing the light, as well as one spotlight with big values set in Spread Angle, Height and Lumen to bring good refraction effect to the gems ~~

    It's a sort of "simulating" a Dome lighting ~
