Ray Dream/Carrara history question ?

Before Ray Dream became part of Carrara, there used to be a 4-pack by Fractal Design consisting of:-
Ray Dream Designer 4 / Ray Dream Animator / Extensions Portfolio / Dream Models

Does anyone know more about these ?  If Carrara took the animation capability from Infini-D then how did Ray Dream Animator differ (or fit in with Ray Dream as I thought that also had animation within) ?

if you can be bothered looking through the included files (nothing runs on Windows 10 AFAIK)

clues could be found here https://archive.org/search?query=ray+dream&and%5B%5D=mediatype%3A%22software%22

can search specifically for the others

Dartanbeck had a section on the history of some of these 3D programs related to Carrara.  Might check the 'Information Manual' that is stickied at the top of the forum.

Thanks for the Archive link, Wendy.  I've used it for music and similar, but never thought about old digital assets.  Carrara 1.1 content.

I'm fairly certain that my History of Carrara does not answer your question - but it might provide clues for further searching.

Don't forget to also read The Text from the original Carrara 1.1 release by the newly formed company to develop Carrara, Eovia

I see now that you have quite a few Carrara questions.

On my website, look at the top navigation bar and check out the many topics under "Carrara Zone" which delves pretty deep into many, Many Carrara topics that have interested me over the years.

You'll see in there that I have a strong love for the software and am passionate about learning more about it. So while I've assembled these pages for your benefit, I also use it myself. As I delve into topics unknown by me, I start researching. If I find a bunch of information about what I'm looking for, I sneak it into a topic at my site - which is how my site originated in the first place - a place of knowldge for helping myself and others become CG Filmmakers using Carrara.
