Anyone know what these material options do?

Hey gang!
An issue I ran into recently while working on a project was when I realized that I didn't know how to control backface culling on an object or material. I spent a bit of time messing with options in the Material Lab and came out of it with only new questions. Specifically, these options here on the dropdown near the Deep Texture Lab / Photo buttons.

The included reference PDF doesn't describe what these options do. Does anyone know what they affect?

    Hi Nullcasting

The six options under the line refer to Curvature Filtering. David Brinnen explain them in the following video.

The bump options have IMHO no strong effects. As far as I know bump calculation was changed with Bryce 7.0. In Bryce 7.1 the bump calculation under "Enchanced bump" is used. It is a default option as long as you use Bryce 7.1. If you need bump calculation of earlier versions of Bryce you may select "Legacy bump".

    Hope it helps.

There are straight lines, there are corners and there are bends. A bend is a curve, and curvature cares about the bends on an object - either the bend looks towards you or away from you. A material is applied to a straight line, either horizontal or vertical, or mixed in a bend. Curvature applies a material or colour onto a curve, either a concave or a convex curve. Curvature can be set in the DTE (last option in components) if desired and in the MatLab. In this example made by David Brinnen 10 years ago applies the green colour to the straight or flat surfaces, the blue on the convex and the orange on the concave part of the object (as set in the DTE).
