Vicky 9 won't load!

I just bought Vicky 9 along with a bunch of other toon stuff, have installed them into the latest version Daz (4.23) through the Smart Content tab, but no matter what I do I can't actually load any of her files. I just keep getting an error message telling me to check the log file, where I find this:

I've tried uninstalling and reainstalling Vicky 9 multiple times, but I keep getting this issue. The Basic Anime Feminine from the Genesis 9 essentials seems to load perfectly fine.

Since your installed it via Daz Connect, it seems that content data of Vicky 9 is corrupt. Fill a ticket.

Then fully uninstall this product in Daz Connect, instead, install it via DIM. It'll work.

Error message suggests the file didn't install properly. Try uninstalling then reinstalling Vicky 9.

  • DAZ 4.23, manul download, DIM loading, trying to open Vicky and get two files not being found.

    /data/Daz 3D/Built-in Content/FilaToon/FilaToon - Base.dsf

    /data/Daz 3D/Gensis 9/Base/Morphs/Daz 3D/Base Anime F/BaseAnimeF_figure_ctrl_Character.dsf

    Unloaded/reinstalled, same difference.

You get a base figure in gray, shaping seems to have worked and you can add/remove the Vicky head/body morphs.

Nothing but missing files when trying to add/change any of the Materials.

Trying some of the other toon bits, materials don't load and trying to add them after the fact is very hit or miss (most often miss). Loaded the backpack, tried to add the red default and it loaded black with no trim.

Not quite ready for prime time it seems ...

You need to update Default Resources for Daz Studio with DIM. The latest package is specifically marked for DS 4.23

You called it. I had downloaded all but the Mac files from the Daz Studio 4.x Pro page. Checking the folder Studo was at 4.23, but the defalt Resources/Templates I got were somehow still 4.22 ...

    Now I'm just missing: /data/Daz 3D/Gensis 9/Base/Morphs/Daz 3D/Base Anime F/BaseAnimeF_figure_ctrl_Character.dsf

Rebooted the system just to give everything a fresh start, same error.

Ah... you're also a Mac user. I saw another Mac user reported the same issue, IIRC... I'm a Mac noob, but suggest you do this:

If you really found there's no BaseAnimeF_figure_ctrl_Character.dsf in data folder, check if you can find it in Genesis 9 Starter Essentials packages (should be Genesis 9 Toon Starter Essentials 3/3), then extract it to the above data folder.

If you do find the file in data folder of your Daz Library but it just stubbornly doesn't work... , pls try: press F2 in DS, Clear DSON Cache Files, then relaod Toon character, see if it works.

Not a Mac user. I downloaded all BUT the Mac files. Last (and only) Apple toy I touched was an Apple IIe, back in ‘78-79. My brother had learned to type on a mechanical typewriter and was breaking off the key tops! Not that I should talk, my first ‘computer’ back in ’77 was a TRS 80 model I (with a whopping 16k of ram!) Graphics you ask? 128 by 48 blocks, two color (as in on of off).

And yeah, this new fangled stuff gets over my head, I 'play' with it and try my hand at covers for my excuse for writing.

Ahh.. sorry I misunderstood... have to go to bed... dizzy, haha ~

You still can check and try the way I mentioned... Good luck !

Not a problem, I'm glad for the help. I did find the file in the zip, but not which 'data' subfolder DAZ expects to find it in. I did find /data/Daz 3D/Gensis 8 Male/Female folders, but no /data/Daz 3D/Gensis 9/ even though I have quite a few 9 figures loaded and working properly.

Oh... no way ~~  You did install G9 Starter Essentials via DIM but not Daz Connect, correct ?  Or... you have multiple Daz Library ?

To keep microsoft from 'updating' and posibly screwing up the OS (again) my DAZ system stays offline, everything is downloaded and  transferred over to it. So DIM loads only (which means I don't get to use those bits that require Studio access the internet.) Other than Loading DAZ and its bits off the C: drive the rest is mostly default settings.I did try Daz Connect on an older system a while back, I did not like how it kept 'forgetting' what was already loaded and needing to connect to go get it yet again.

Okay, did some folder digging and found I was barking up the wrong tree. Will do some file hunting ...

  • Update.

Seems a dummy(me) missed the Starter Essentials update, DIM showed I still had 1 & 2 of 2 ... (me hates manually added because I don't always find them - yes, I know that's why being connected and auto-updates are a good thing. ;-P ) DL and DIM, no errors and now it looks like a 'Vicky' (and not the 'killer clown' head I was getting before!)

Many thanks to those that helped me see the errors in my ways. ;-)

Glad you got it fixed. Have fun ! :D
  • My problem was a little different.  I have two computers, one using the latest beta of 4.23, the other recently reimaged fresh with the latest release.

The first could not find BaseAnimeF_figure_ctrl_Character.dsf.   The second loaded Vicky 9 easily.

I searched the second computer for BaseAnimeF_figure_ctrl_Character.dsf under MyDazLibrary and it was not there ??? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ???

I finally thought to look in My Daz Connect Library on computer two and it was there (the Install Manager did not put it in MyDazLibrary?)  Computer two did prompt me to install missing packages, computer one did not.   I even checked the download (I'm in the habit of downloading the manual install in case someday the Install Manager doesn't work) and that didn't have the file.

I would have thought that Install Manager would show me an available update for computer one...

I copied everything from computer two's My Daz Connect Library into computer one's MyDazLibrary and now it loads there... maybe it's because of the Beta but again I would have thought needed files would have been in the DIM or offline install...

For DIM the files are in a new third part of Genesis 9 Starter Essentials.
