all my Genesis 2 character UVs are mis-mapping suddenly

I just suddenly got this issue with my Genesis 2 male and female characters.  All the character maps are mis-mapping. I am using DS 4.23.0.1 64-bit.  I cleared Daz Studio cache, I uninstalled and re-installed my Genesis 2 Essentials using DIM, and still get this problem across characters.  Here is just one example.  Should I submit a report ?

Did you recently install some sort of UV-related product?

  • @Gordig - no, haven't done that... can't figure this out . Just a very recent development.

What UV set is, for example, your G2F currently using?

    What is the tiling values?

Sorry, I don't know where to find this information... OK - I think it is Base Female for my G2 Female figure I just loaded up

I see that Map Tiling is 1 for both U and V (from Surfaces)

  • When I load Genesis 2 Female default, her UVs are fine, her default texures are fine.  When I apply a character material to her, the result is faulty as I have shown in my earlier post.

When I load Genesis 3 Female default, her default textures are all messed up as shown in my earlier post.  When I apply a character material to her, it loads fine.

Character morphs for both figures load correctly.

    Have you used Texture Atlas?

I couldn't reproduce the issue with 4.23 but it seems to me definitely a tilling issue ~ In Surfaces tab, select Skin template, then check H and V Tiles, are they really 1 ?

I'm sorry but I do not know how to use Texture Atlas. What I found just now is that some Genesis 2 (female and male) characters will produce the error and some do not.  I have identified a list of characters which produce the error, but I feel it may not be prudent to publish it here ??

Yes, U tiling and V tiling are 1

  • I can confirm that all my Genesis 3 male and female character sets are loading correctly, but the default figure character materials are loaded as I have shown earlier - error in the mapping.

I have a list of Genesis 2 male and female chacrater sets which load with corrupted mapping, but as I have mentioned, not all load in error; some load perfectly fine.  The default figure also loads fine with its default textures.

So the problem exists, except it is reverse for Gen2 and Gen3

  • I also went through my Genesis set of characters.  There were 2 or 3 that also loaded with error mapping, the rest load fine.

Another way for testing, so as to check if your content assets are messed up:

    - Create a new Daz Library on one of your disk, then manually extract the folders in G2 Starter Essentials IM package > Content to that folder... as well as the character package that you need for test.
    - In Content Directory Manager, create a new Content Set and only set the path of the above Daz Library under Daz Studio Formats. Then switch to this Content Set.
    - Go for a test again.

oh... that's a bit of work.  I have so many error sets.  But It does seem that there is something corrupted somewhere somehow.

It seems you also use Daz Connect, you can also try with disconnecting Daz Connect beforehand. This way is easier ~

  • I uninstalled and re-installed my Genesis 3 figures.  My G2 and G3 figures re in seperate content libraries.  I still get this problem when loading default Genesis 3.

Some of my G2 character material sets are similarly messed up, but my default G2 figures load with correctly applied default materials.

  • Here is the texture atlas for my re-installed fresh G3F which is also having trouble (sorry the subject hearder started with my G2 troubles which have now spread to G3)

I don't think this issue has anything to do with Texture Atlas... it seemed that true culprti also impact atals ~~ This issue is really weird ...

Anyway, trouble-shooting by all means. Pls try to open the attached scene file I saved with a G3F Base but locked some properties for testify this issue's response....see if you can still see the problem.

  • I have figured out a work-around solution and am writing it up here, in case other users have the same problem.

The problem appears to be solved when I apply Daz PBR skin shader, followed by Daz Uber shader.

    The workflow is as follows:

If loading default figure and it has error mapping, ignore.  Choose character preset (or character materials, if not using the morphs) and apply.  Apply Daz PBR skin shader, then apply Daz Uber shader, in that order.  In Surfaces, make opacity for EyeReflection = 0.  Reduce opacity for Tear. The eyes in iRay Render Preview look like dead fish, but that is no longer a mapping problem.

  • @Crosswind - our posts crossed.  Thanks for you response !

OHH.. there is an Iray Optimised MAT to apply inside the Materials folder ...
