Promo nudity, about time!

I've noticed these past few months that nudity is finally allowed in the promotional images.  I mean it IS the human body and there is nothing wrong with that.  I'm happy that DAZ 3D finally is allowed to allow their published artists to show full nudity so the buyer knows exactly down the last pixel of what they are purchasing.

I agree, but how much of that is lack of DAZ staff checking out the stuff prior to publishing considering how much oversight seems to be happening with a lot of the new PA products? That is dicussed in other threads.

    I don't think it's that.

Not much, I'd say, since the mature filter has been on Daz for good half a year now.

The most obvious lack of clothing delivered Aeon Soul today, which isn't what I call a "new PA". And previous products were sold without such a lack of clothing, which makes it quite possible that the rules got changed, instead of it being an oversight. wink

The rules have definitely been changed.  Part of that is certainly due to the fact that the store can now "hide" more mature imagery automatically.  However, given that the product catalog at Renderosity has always allowed nudity and how many Renderosity artists have come over to dump huge portions of their catalogs into DAZ over the last half year or so, I've always assumed that a major reason for the changes allowing nudity was so that all of those artists wouldn't have to go back and spend a massive amount of time and money re-creating a large chunk of those images.  Indeed, looking at age some of the stuff that got dumped into the store, it's likely that a lot of those products wouldn't have been very profitable to move over if the cost of redoing images had to be factored in, especially since many vendors farm out the production of many of their own promo images.  And, needless to say, if DAZ was going to change the rules for the "new" vendors and products, they couldn't very well say "no you can't" to the existing vendors because, make no mistake about it, it's a HUGE marketing advantage to not be forced to hide a significant portion of the product you're trying to sell to a customerbase that, by the very nature of the product itself, is going to end up looking at those products "nude" anyway.

There have been nude promos for core figures since at least Cheyenne.

edit: looking back, it appears that EVERY female core figure (minus Vicky) since Cheyenne has had nude promos, but Harlow and Wagner appear to be the only males with even a single nude promo. I can understand not doing nude promos for Joey and Donnie, maybe Wukong, and kind of Neanderthal, but what about Thomas or Toshi?

Can't say it's caused me to buy more, or less, but it must be easier for the PAs and QAs now.

I think it well prdates the Renderosity PAs. There was a thread announcing the change.

Seems to me, it's taken a while for the practice to really take hold here. There have been some early adopters, though the change has been more noticeable sincethe Welcome program began. I think it's mostly because the Rendo folks have been showing more skin in their promos all along. Even so, there is not as much shown for character promos as could be/should be. Some PAs don't show everything.

Go back and look at the product numbers.  As noted, Cheyene was the first base figure to hit the store with nude imagery, and her base's product number is  93895.  However, as a base figure she would have been in the system for a while before she actually went to release and you'll see that her ProBundle's product number is 97253.  By comparison, the product numbers for the Rendo products start appearing in between those two... the first batch of Pamawos, for example, are mostly in the 96--- range, and one of the very first nude-imaged products to hit the DAZ store, and the first that I can recall kicking up a thread, was Secret Details for G9m by COlor Galleria, which carries a DAZ product number of 95514 and was a transfer item from Rendo in March of this year... I know this for certain as I bought it at Rendo nearly six months earlier in Setember of 2023.  March, coincidentally, is when I remember the first thread about "adult images" appearing in the forums, though that thread was mostly about non-adult images that were being blurred.  The First thread specifically about adult content in the store that I can recall was started in mid-April.  Granted, I don't live on these threads as some do and could have missed something, but from all the dates I've seen, it's clear that, whether it had been announced as such to the public or not, the Renderosity migration was already well in progress in early 2024, well before Cheyene was released, and many of the first items with nude promos were defintely older products being transferred over from Rendo.

Not. Store promo images may have nudity, if they have a mature content filter aplied, but we do not have filters in the forum so we cannot allow nuidity at all. See Acceptable Ways of Handling Nudity

Are there considerations at DAZ, to soften the nudity rules in the forum or galleries, with possible mature filters?

I suspect that that would require a whole new forum...

  • I'm very happy about not just seeing the characters but the clothing and other bit and pieces more variety options because the creators aren't restricted what they can sell here

hopefully the galleries rules will change too with a tick box that you have to select to view renders that we can upload
