Iray render in 4.23

I installed the new 4.23 and was immediatly confronted with the inability to perform any Iray renders. I read here that other were having similar issues. Very frustrating. So I updated to the latest GPU drivers and no change, still counldn't render. So I went to the render settings hardware box where I always use just the GPU and leave the CPU unchecked. I unchecked the GPU and checked the CPU and render worked! Slowly. I then rechecked the GPU so that both were checked and render still worked. Faster. So then I tried unchecking the CPU again and leaving just the GPU checked the way it was when I was having the no render problem. It still worked!! I don't know why this worked but I am now able to run 4.23 with full render capabilities the same way I was using 4.22. I hope this might help other having the render problem.

For the record, the latest Nvidia Studio drivers (565.90) have been reported to cause some issues with Iray in DS, and people have posted that they reverted to Studio Driver 561.09

  • I will be reverting my version too as I'm running into the same issue.  Will DAZ post an announcement as to when the latest NVIDIA drivers will be fixed, as this is not typically something NVIDIA even addresses in their notes?

As of 4.23 I am no longer able to render even my old files out in 8K (7680x4320) anymore. Previously it was no issue, but now the denoiser ain't working no longer.
Going for 7.2K does the trick, but anything too high results in only 16/24GB VRam usages, while 7.2K hovers around 20GB no matter what I do.
Even changing assets (reducing texture resolution, lower subdivision values etc. does NOTHING).

So it seems that with 4.23 that VRam uses is resolution bound. What the fridge?

Edit: seems to really work again with Studio Driver 561.09. Hopefully NVidia is gonna address this issue soon!

Last time the Nvidia drivers broke Studio compatibility the fix was mentioned in the Nvidia update notes.
