Need help with Genesis 3 pants on Genesis 8 - pants losing all the folds

I would like to use these pants on Genesis 8 character, but the pants is losing all structure after loading on a Gen8 character.
On the left is how the pants look (and is supposed to look like) when just loaded into the scene.
On the right is how the pants look after applied to a standard Gen8 character.

Is there anything I can do to make the pants look like it's supposed to be?

I am not awre that I have seen autofit doing that.

    I don't have the pants so I can't test.

You don't have a high value of smoothing on the autofitted pants?

Do not load pants to G8M with Auto-Fit. Instead, either:

Use Transfer Utility: 1) Load pants into the scene with no fitting. Dial G8M L/R Thigh > Side to Side to -6/+6; 2) Transfer Utility with settings in below screenshot 1.

Or:  1) Step one as above; 2) Change Preferred Base in Scene Identification of the pants to /Genesis 8/Male; 3)  Fit pants to G8M.(screenshot 2)

After fitting, remember to Zero G8M's pose.

I don't have that set ether but according to the file list http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/read_me/index/32073/file_list it is possible that the wrinkles are a morph (an HD morph, in fact) so you may just need to reapply the morph.

Fold HD morph property is set 100% as default ... the culprit is that AutoFit breaks the link to dhdm file which has to be re-imported, however, user has no multiresolution plugin to do so. PAs rarely create dhdm on Wearables, this product is a bit unique ~~

Thank you! I tried the way with Transfer Utility as you described and that worked.

  • Ok, but what would I need to do if I want the pants fit to a custom Genesis 8 female character?

I tried the first option, but then the pants don't conform to the character.
And the second option doesn't offer me to choose my custom character in the scene identification window.

If so, both options will still work for your case. In the 2nd option, you need to change Preferred Base to /Genesis 8/Female.

Then, depending on how customized you character is... if it's heavily customized, you'll always have to fix FBM on the pants by using external software, e.g. Blender (see screenshots...)

If there's only partial unconformity, fix them with Mesh Grabber.
