Having a bad hair day

I got this hair recently and forgot about it until today. I was playing with it a bit and am sort of taken aback by the results. This...isn't right is it? It's white in the viewport and looks kinda funny when it's rendered.

It is a strand based hair (SBH). You should do an actual render (not Iray preview).

If you want to see it in preview you can enable it in parameters, but it will require ressources, which is why it is not enabled by default.

I'm okay with just spot rendering and trusting it after that. It was just strange to see it all white like it was missing surface materials. Also, I didn't realize it had a Cap. Once I applied a material to that it made it look much better too. And thanks for the info! Just wanted to make sure it wasn't just me.
