Is there a way to toggle glowing eyes on and off.

I have a character (G8M) who I want to have glowing eyes in certain scenes. Is there a way to toggle those glowing eyes on and off without going to the folder and re-applying the shader? I know I'm being lazy but the story thatI am writing is going to have these eyes going back and forth a lot and I'm trying to save some steps.

You could always make the preset a custom action (right-click on it) so that it can beaccessed from the favourites or Scripts menu. Otherwise it might be more or less tricky depending on how the glow is implemented.

is there a link that explains how to do that? What about geoshells? Could I apply the glowing eyes to a geo shell and toggle that shell to on or off?

How to do which? My post gives fairly complete instructions for creating a custom action.

You can save a material present of the character with the eyes glow off, and create a second material present with the eyes glow on. After saving them right click on each Preset and choose to "create custom action" and save it under favorites. So you can access them from your favorites menu. This video, around the 1 and a half minute mark, shows how to save a custom action:
