Filatoon Converter question

I haven't tried or used filatoon yet, so I'd like to ask a question about it's potential.  Is there a script or routine that could convert all the elements in a scene to just a transparent or white color with solid black outlines?  I could do 2 renders, one normal render with iray and a second render with just the white with black outlines and overlay them to achieve the effect I want.  Is this possible?

Cheers,

Davo

Yes, no need to convert for that (even if it is possible), here is the worflow I would have:

    1. select all your objects/figures in the scene (NOT their surfaces), and apply : V3D FTC Outline Nodes Add. All the nodes will have an outline but will keep their original shader (which does not matter for what you want to do).

    2. Use the next script "Outline Color Opacity Thickness" to adjust the outlines look to your needs (acts on selected nodes)

    3. use "Utility Select All Scene Surfaces" : all your surfaces (except outlines) will be selected so that you can remove the base color maps. In Surfaces Editor, with all these surfaces selected, remove the base colors maps by affecting the image associated to Base Color or (for old content) "Diffuse Color" to "None" (left click on the small square containing the image maps of this properties and choose none). Eventually set Metallicity to 0 if necessary (or refraction or such). Render and you have a black outline/white elements.

    4. Come back to your original scene to render the original materials in Iray and do what you have to do in photoshop or anything else.

  • Thank you for the replies. I hope this all works out the way I'd like.  I've always wished Daz Studio had a post render options with outlines like Poser firefly does. Makes it easy to overlay the 2 images and get a semi-tooned look and feel for graphic art styles rather than Photo Real.
