Overlay clothing onto shell

So I wanted to try and do some bodypainting scenes.  Problem is my skills creating surface designs is terrible.  My thought was to use an existing shirt model's texture and transposing that onto a shell so the shirt looks as if it is painted directly on the skin.  But I have no idea how to do such a thing.  I have seen substance painter and maybe I should buy that if it would allow me to do it.  Anyone else done this or have tricks to making a design on G8F/G8M bodies?

Vyktorias 'Sexy Skinz' is essentially clothing paninted on a geoshell.

But that doesn't look like bodypaint, due to too many details. There is a limit for the details you can obtain when bodypainting.

I don't have Substance Painter, but it is my understanding you can do projecting painting in that.

But maybe try to find a simple texture you can project on, then it might be more believeable to look like bodypaint.

  • I'm pretty sure Blender can project from one model to another, which is what you need - then you could tweak the result, in Blender or taking the maps into an image editor and working in 2D.

Yes, Blender can do that projection and OP also can paint texture image as stencil onto the figure's body... However, for such a need of bodypaint, maybe OP can directly use a decal on the figure.
