Meet Tamar

Hi all, I'm working on learning Daz well enough (I hope!) to someday become a Published Artist here.

Here is my first original character, Tamar:

She is less "idealized" than the typical character / figure seen here, but my hope is that (with time and improvement) she'd be of interest to folks shopping for "real people." :)

Also, I'm hoping to dig into pose creation soon, and would love to hear from existing Published Artists on this other thread about "Becoming a Published Artist"

Much thanks for any thoughts on Tamar you may have!

This looks like a nice character and I appreciate the "normal" look. Does it come with its own skin and what figure is it based on? Only critisism is her pose which is very unnatural and I hope you give her a backbone that not predestined for poses like that

  • Thanks, Linwelly! The pose is actaully a V6 one...iirc. One of the ones from the Pro bundle and only modified a bit--moved a hand down from her face to her side. Good point, though, something a bit less...twisty...is probably best for presentation...and her spine. ;)

She's based on a the base Genesis 2 Female. The skin is Bree's.

I've realized from this process and from shopping around that the options (for this sort of thing) seem to be: pack of several shapes/figures or a single figure + eyes, makup, skin, etc.

I don't (yet...) own any of the skin resource packs, and am trying to work with what I have to get started. I still need to make time for LIE, but that's a whole other world and I'm trying to stay focused...this world of 3D character design being considerably more vast than I'd realized. :)

    Thanks for the feedback, Linwelly!

Really like her!  Love the features, and love the fact that her body isn't "perfect".  she looks real which is a nice change from some of the other stuff out there.

  • Thanks, Sonja! I've recently added several other resource kit friendly morphing collections to my...collection, and am going to dig into Blender, Wings3D, and maybe Hexagon. So. Perhaps in the future, with some more attention, Tamar may roam the halls here. :)

    Hi Overdrawn!

I'm sure there's a LOT of competition to get a figure into the Daz pipeline, so hope you're not discouraged. Keep at it!

One thing you may consider is your lighting- seems a bit harsh and not complimentary to her skin, increase your midtones to eliminate the glare which IMO is really washing out the skin. With those lovely cheekbones, you want to show them off!

I really like the charactor you have created.....but I have to agree with Novica as the lighting is white washing her skin out.

But she looks so much more natural then perfect which is a really good thing :D

  • Novica, great suggestion! This was a "drop in" light kit and background, but I should certainly tweak it to accent what's fabulous about Tamar.

Saphirewild, much thanks for the encouragement!
