Postgre SQL CMS not working for new computer install

I bought a  new computer, and have now installed Daz 4.23 and content from the Daz Install Manager.  I downloaded the most recent (I think) Postgree SQL CMS ver. 9.3.4.  The installer put the files under C:\program files\DAZ 3D\ Pastgre SQL CMS.  However, I continue to get an error message that the program is not working properly, and the Smart Content area remains blank.  I can use the downloaded content from the "right-side" content in the program, and the Install Manager finds everything and downloads it.  Note that the CMS Cluster folder is empty.  I am perplexed.  Do you have any suggestions that might help me?

The CMS uses an internal port that might be blocked by a Firewall or Virus Checker and will have to be allowed through. You could also try changing the Port Number in Studio under Edit/Preferences/CMS Settings, also check that the Cluster is set for the right directory.

Did you install PostgreSQL (oen version only, usually the 64 bit general release) - not teh Valentina to PostgrteSQL conversion tool, that is a tool for converting the Valentina database used in very old versions of DS 4 to PostgreSQL and has been pretty much irrelevant for a decade or more.

  • I  have ver 64 bit release but i don't have a postgre where do i find it

  • problem is solved at least for me, it found me

  • Thank you for your responses so far.  Will someone please tell me where their PostgreSQL folder is located on their computer?  Maybe the files downloaded to an incorrect location.  I am using windows 11 64-bit, same as richard.perkins.  I downloaded the latest version of   PostgreSQL from the Daz 3D site, after it appeared that Daz Studio 4.23 did not install it.

Research update:  I checked the firewall, but the problem is that there is no .exe file in PostgreSQL.  Daz3d.exe and Daz Install Manager.exe are listed as authorized to go through.  That explains why I can download and install through the DIM.  I changed the internal port, which was set to the default17237, to a couple of other numbers but no luck.   I'm now thinking about doing the uninstall and reinstall solution.

I did find a newer version of PostgreSQL in the download manager.  When it installed this time, the CMS files are located at C:Users\Owner|AppData\roaming\DAZ 3D\cms.  So I set that as the path for the Content Manager(withing the Daz Studio Program) and it worked!   You can find the content manager settings under "edit" "preferences" Temporary File Location".

For an interesting aside, The newest Windows 11 has important folders hidden.  It's probably a good idea generally to save the novice from breaking their computer..  I could not see the AppData folder until I changed the folder setting.
