Kin Hair for Genesis 9

I've already purchased this product but it's now available again "for free", except I've already purchased it so how is that "for free".  Even the GPL doesn't admit that one.

Not the only one.  Lots of free products that I've already purchased apparently.

Am I meant to purchase it for "free" so I can't complain when it doesn't work?

What do you mean? Items remain in store after you purchase them, though they will by default be hidden (Hide Items I Own checked). It is a bit annoying when a purchased item is free later on (like you I paid for Kin hair) but that doesn't affect our ownership of the existing licenses, nor does the product chnage in any way as a result of being - pemanently or temporarily - free.

The prices of products on DAZ SHOP are not fixed.
While there is a list price, the actual selling price fluctuates constantly.
Products that were previously sold can become free.
New products may be offered for free and later become paid.
The support you receive does not change whether you purchased the product or obtained it for free.
Just because a product is free does not mean that the license becomes free. It has nothing to do with the GPL.
Incidentally, Kin Hair for Genesis 9 became free over a year ago (I think it was October 2023).

  • Free is never guaranteed and we never know when it will happen.  I've paid for products (especially when they're new) only to see them at significantly lower prices...but that's at a much later date.  So that's usually a tradeoff.  Grab the free things when you can as ine of my spending habits (not an addiction, I keep telling myself) is "I'll never know when this asset will come in handy."

This mindset has multiplied my library, and at the same time take advantage of sales, too.  But yeah, it's also cost me a lot and sometimes I begrudingly look at a good sale for something pricey I once purchased.  It happens to all of us.

Duh.  I said, quite clearly and in plain english:

    >I've already purchased this product but it's now available again "for free", except I've already purchased it so how is that "for free".

I've already purchased it, but it showed up as **not purchased**; I didn't uncheck the "hide items I own" button but, regardles of whether or not that is believed in the etiolated DAZ world, I could and **did** add it to my cart.  Go to the store page, uncheck "hide items I own" and then sort by "price low-to-high"; now tell me how to add the first items you actually **own** to the cart!

Ok, it's been fixed, but this negativity and criticism which seems universal now, what's that for?  (That's not just addressed to you, it is addressed directly and critically at every single person who responded to my OP.)

I think with people's responses and additional questions, it's quite apparent that it wasn't clear and in plain English to them. Richard actually asked for details: how's that negativity and criticism? Other people tried to explain things likely trying to guess what _might_ have been what you meant.

I actually had trouble understanding what you mean myself. Had to read it three times and then guess that maybe you meant, "an item I already purchased shows as available for purchase again" (which you only clarified now) in which case, if it was "clear and plain English", everyone would just nod and say it's a know and common bug, and all you have to do is refresh the website to make it update.
