This is my 1st serious Iray render. I've been using Daz off and on since 2009 and didnt understand any of it until about 2 years ago, I just got a Nvidia GTX 980 and wanted to push its limits... Well I havent but I like my progress. I am still tweaking but would love some feedback as to how I am doing. Thank you all!
Her name is Mina. no postwork either... All done in Daz

Ok, so I did a close up of Mina while i took a nap. Hoep somebody will give me their opinion of my work... Im not focused on themes as much as the technical side of it, getting a beautiful realistic render..
I think it looks pretty good! It is an interesting composition and pose. The glass looks more like plastic than glass to me. Maybe that was your intent. Did you use and Iray glass shader on it? The liquid she is sitting in should perhaps have some refraction. Is the liquid a solid model or just a flat plane? Solid would give more realistic results, but might be very difficult to achieve unless the glass model came with a modeled solid contents. In the close up, her lips look like they do not blend with the surrounding skin. Are they from a different skin texture or do they have a different shader than the skin perhaps?
Those are looking pretty good. Keep it up.
Barbult, the liquid was part of the glass, i tried a few water iray shaders but didnt work out. i hav elittle lingo and render setting/shader work knowledge or experience. i tried a lighting setup and it cam out better.. i will try a glass iray shader on the glass she sits inside of... going to post new render then try glass shader. Thanks for the feedback
Thank you as well Frank0314
I am going to do some opacity work on the lips. i used a makeup preset, i used a beautiful skin iray shader on her skin itself. She is a Genesis 2 model
One thing you could add is Ripples, I'm still learning that process,
in DS Creative issue 15, page 21/66, there is a tutorial how to make ripples
I would think adding ripples would add to the realistic appearance you're shooting for
i agree and will look into it. Im having a lot of fun learning my techniques.
i made the ripples but problem is, I need a circular plain the diamater of glass so i tried to make one on a cylinder and it didnt work. I'll keep looking for similar tricks
Very nice for your first try at Iray. It's tricky, well, depending on what you attempt and you started with water so it's tricky.
Her face is rather orange according to my monitor image- perhaps go to Surfaces and change the diffuse to add a bit of gray/blue. I also think a bit chalky, so adding more glossy/messing with Specular (and I am SO not a technical person) would help- and also check the color you have for translucency, to take the orange out.
What a fun pose!
For water, one way to "cheat" is to look at the settings from other products you have that have water. Works for me lol.
Thanks for the feedback, I am going to work on the overhead veiw of her and correct the water issue. Until then I will use the side render as the final product pose for now. I made another one. I will post it. I think lighting is going to be my nemesis! LOL
Here she is, kinds scary lol
I got the water worked out!!!!
She's kicking up a storm.
Interesting. You don't waste time on the mundane!
It looks like the face is using different surface settings than the body. ( I've made this mistake many times. it is easy to do!) When selecting an alternate face makeup, it is important to select one from the same character's materials and one using the same surface shader. If you apply a separate shader, like the Beautiful Skins Iray, be sure to apply it after loading all the materials. If you change the face makeup later, it will not have the Beautiful Skins Iray applied to it. You will have to reapply the skin shader. I hope this makes some sense.
Ahhhhhhh!! thanks for that tip, i will make adjustments shortly
I like it,
I need to stop jumping around and stick finishing something everyone is passing me with awesome renders
XaatXun, I was the same way until I got my GTX 980. Once that puppy was installed, 1st thing I did (im a gamer) is open DAZ studio and test an IRAY render. Now that I can have a beautiful render, I am motivated to make all kinds of stuff.
