Were you a weird kid part 2
New feature at Chariot's Wheels: Answers from the Aether and my first victim: artist and occultist, Tommie Kelly
Not really art...but since you all seem to appreciate my sense of style: An Etiquette of Body Scent
I can tell you in my experience people don't know what they smell like in the habitual state, i.e. a perfume / cologne wearer doesn't know what they smell like, a smoker doesn't know what they smell like, a habitual beer drinker doesn't know what they smell like, and so on. Usually good not to use the same workout clothing more than 3 days running too, even if they are those dry-wick fast-dry sort that cost a lot of money and have Nike labels on them.
Your really only 'sure' way not to stink is to bath daily or nearly daily and brush regularly and habitually wash your hands, face, and teeth, especially if you one of those smokers, drinkers, perfume wearers.
Wonderful thread. Wish I had come across it sooner. Great work.
Yes, it is hard. Which is why one needs to be concious of it. If more people just put a little thought into it, they'd be better off than they currently are.
Well, thanks.
It's gotta be the shoes... Tanner Goods PF Flyer Center Hi.
If you hadn't figured out that I am a sneakerhead, now you know.
New winter colors at Chariot's Wheels, new layout elements, working on a new front page design, social media integration so you can see all the obnoxious things I have to say. Thanks for visting.
Liked the article about the Etiquette of Body Scent. I have a problem with strong perfume smells so I'm a little sensitive about that. Nothing worse than walking down the street and suddenly be engulfed in overpowering perfumes or strong colognes. The closest I get to perfume is slightly scented body washes and I tend to lean toward vanilla or fruit. I have to admit to being a smoker a long time ago and, when I smoked, I never noticed a lot of the scents around me not even my own. All I can say, is that I'm glad my husband, who was a non-smoker, actually stuck with me until I stopped smoking. Smelling those who smoke now that I don't, is not pleasant and I'm actually surprised my husband didn't divorce. I'm glad he didn't, though. :) It's now been about 18 years since I quit and I can't stand the smell of smoke, either in the air as I walk by or even on a person. I'm actually appalled, at times, that I even smelled like that once upon a time.
As for your shoes, I'm afraid I have no idea who that is or why the shoes are so important. I only own about 5 pairs of shoes, non of them name brands. I, usually, only wear one pair consistently since moving to Florida and those are sandals. But, if it makes you happy, go for it. Sprucing up the place can be fun. Not that I would know anything about that either. It's been at least a year since I've been on my own blog. I'm not a very good blogger. :)
Enjoy the holidays. :)
@knittingmommy, yes... men's style issues are not for everyone... I'm just a little disgusted with some of the snobbery that goes along with fashion/style, even if I think looking your best is sort of important. And I totally understand about the smoking, having been a smoker myself. That's a tough one, but concerns about how you smell are not going to change that habit!
Happy Holidays to you and yours.
Invoking the 4 Kings and Invoking the 4 Kings (2)
Pushing the borders of art, and a controversial topic for some, no doubt, that borders on religion and faith, but one can not shy away from controversy in the hopes that it will simply go away. My art is very often bound up in my mythic and occult views, so this is, perhaps, a bit of a peak behind the curtain.
Though the Fear is Excruciating
One of those intensely personal things that has just enough clues that someone else might get it, but then maybe not. I gave up being intentionally obscure a long time ago. If I'm obscure, now, its because of the personal nature. Once again, my art is bound up in my mythic and occult views.
In those moments
when you must wear
your bravest face as a mask,
indeed, as armor,
you will find me there.

did you lay your head
when last your heart was broken?
