Updated Meshes for Pet Cats and Dogs

This has probably been suggested before, but is there anyway it is viable for the Millenium Cat and Dog to be updated? Compared to the Genesis figures, the bends on these models are sadly outmoded. The Horse and the Big Cat were improved (though I think the feet of both cats and dogs would need a bit more attention paid to them) but our domestic best friends were left for dead or so it seems. I'd also love to see a detailed rat model too, it can morph into other rodents and its feet could be posable.

This has been requested several times over the years, but so far nothing's turned up. And yes, a lot of us agree the feet just don't look right (why I never got into the Big Cat 2 stuff).

About the rat, have you looked at Noggin's offering? It's a bit old and creaky now, but the basic model is still quite nice, and there are Pet Shop and Fantasy texture expansion sets.

The noggins rat is great and if you turned it into a SubD version it is fantastic. I use the noggins rat as SubD version.

Get the noggins rat and make a SubD version out of it and you have a really great looking rat

To my thinking the biggest issue with updating these isn't that they wouldn't sell, It's that it would be never ending. Say someone releases an update with the 6 most common breeds for both a cat and a dog. The SECOND that hits the markest everyone and their brother is going to pipe in with but what about MY breed?!? I want MINE! No one is ever going to be satified with basics.

If yer the type that wants to please everyone you'd start releasing exp packs, and then another, and another as more people chime in. But honestly those packs are probably not going to sell enough to cover the sheer months it will take to get all of those represented properly (can yo uimgaine the number of HD photos required to make one dog?) and its taking time away from other products they have in queue.

I could see this sucking the soul out of someones enjoyment of creating things fast. I don't even think AM would want to jump into this and he loves creating animal models.

I think a cat and dog update would be a hit. Animals look great as extras in scenes and quite frankly mil cat and dog look pretty bad unless you depth of field them.

One reason I use noggins rats most of the time if I need an animal to fill space

Adding LAMH fur helps a lot

  • I would love to see the Millenium Cat updated. I want to purchase it, but it just somehow doesn't look quite right. I'm sure it was superb for the era it was made, but when I compare it to my two resident kitties, it just doesn't look right. Also, I have a number of fantasy renders that would look great with a cat in it. It coudl come with a  few breed/coat pattersn, and also a few solid colors and we'd be set. Just my thoughts.
