Why no Scabbards???

Nearly every fantasy-oriented outfit which is a sword-wielding character has a glaring omission in the content of the product - There is no scabbard or sheath to carry the sword (or swords) in when not using them.  A scabbard and belt/harness should be an essential component of any warrior, soldier, barbarian, or knight clothing/outfit/armor product.

  • Same applies to holsters, we have reams of handguns but very few holsters.

Duncan Mcleod hasn't needed a scabbard since the 1800s apparently. His sword just seemed to become part of his coat...

  • Duncan McLeod has the scabbard inside his coat.

Macleod was immortal so if he accidentally chopped off a hand or something it just grew back I guess. No need for scabbards. Also saved a fortune in insurance, that's how he got rich enough to have places all over the world and no visible means of income.

He ran a dojo (but never seemed to have many students, come to think of it)...plus when you live a few hundred years, that couple of coins you invested in a little trading company paid off hugely.

But only if you picked the right little trading company.

And when planning your multi-century investments, don't forget that while interest compounds, so does inflation.

That was Connor, not Duncan; though at one point or another, both MacLeods also ran antique shops, as I recall. And Connor had a partner in the dojo, if I'm not mistaken.

Duncan ran the dojo he bought from Charlie DeSalvo. Although as mentioned, there were very, very few customers that were ever in there.

Connor had the antique shop...or was it just all the crap he picked up over the years as a slightly more 'upscale' garage sale?

So back to scabbards...(I'm a Highlander fan, too, though, lol)...a morphing one would be especially helpful.  A few outfits that come with swords have scabbards built into them or as parentable props, but something that has a default straight sword shape that can be morphed to account for uniquely shaped blades would be especially handy, even more so if it came with some parentable and adjustable straps and/or harnesses.  For example, a cross-shaped harness could allow for left-handers as well as right-handers, and dual-wielders as well.  If each strap (left-shoulder-to-right-hip & right-shoulder-to-left-hip) has separate material zones from each other, it would be easy enough to hide one or the other for whatever's needed.

A belt to which multiple scabbards w/ blades could be attached would also be good, with options to make it sag in various places (front left, middle left, back left, center back, etc.).  On top of that, if someone modeled the scabbard "right" (I use the term loosely b/c I have very little experience in 3D modeling), it could probably also double as a gun holster (just by increasing the x or z scale values to make it wider), or add bumps where appropriate for the type of firearm.

It'd actually be really awesome to see those come out; I've got a few soldiers forced to wear blades the size of their legs just slung on their backs...

No...geometry-wise it would be much better to do separate items.  You just won't get the 'fit' that actually modelling it for the 'target' item would provide.
