Once again I've achieved nothing at all. Why do I ever think a waste of oxygen like me is capable of achieving things?

    Going to bed, goodnight.

Well I was clearly in a great mood last night!

So far I've achieved nothing today either, but I feel bloody dreadful so not expecting much to be honest.

Is there a problem with the store? I bought something and it's not in my downloadable goodies list.

This does seem to be a problem today, one that is spreading it seems. Flagging it up

Still not downloadable. Don't think I'll be ordering any more until this issue is resolved.

Hey BlumBlum, don't forget DAZ 3D land is 7 hours behind us, so it is still not opening time for the DAZ offices. Fairs Fair.

Fair is indeed fair, and I had forgotten the time difference to be honest. Not especially grumpy about this, but I would still rather it was resolved before I bought anything else.

I am absolutely going through hell today with my diabetes, and all because... I've got a cold. Bloody pathetic isn't it?

Then they have 16 minutes to... Nah, just kidding, I'm all fluffy and benevolent really.

I can see me throwing bunnies at kittens just to see which one comes off worst though, I am having mood swings like you wouldn't believe.

Let's see...so far, I got out of bed at 8:30, let the dogs out, peed, let the dogs in, played with the baby, got 1st cup of coffee, signed on and checked forums. Now I'm going for another coffee.

HAHAHA. Oh my, I found myself having to quote myself because it's all up there for download now!

I love Daz, I really do.

If only Cornucopia3D were as efficient!

Make mine white with some sweeteners. Don't care how many, I think I need sweetening up today, I'm so wound up and for nothing.

So yeah, still no achievements as such today, but I'm hoping to manage a render later. Got one brewing in Vue at the moment but it's just a quick experiment with their EcoSystem material, which basically uses a material shader to plant trees all over an object. Looks very cool but to get the best out of it you really need to buy a $99 add-on, or in fact two of them to REALLY make it glorious.

Am going to play with my other new toy later with my DS render. Will tell you what it is when I do the render, because I'm sneaky like that ;)

But your Daleks will give you something to look forward to.

Though I doubt Doctor Who would be very impressed to hear that you want to go home and play with Daleks!

I was considering rendering some Daleks for last month's TV show based Freebie Challenge, but I never did. As usual. I was only going to choose a Doctor Who theme because it was easier to get Doctor Who stuff than Firefly or Babylon 5.

Hmmmm, well, twice now I've tried to use my new toy, Infinito, and twice it's crashed before I finished with it! Not looking good.

So here we are, another day, another... well... day, really!

I feel awful which from my point of view is a good excuse to play with 3D all day. Or at least all afternoon since I haven't been up long and it's already gone midday.

Got some modelling guides to read through, and I want to do some stuff in DS. Really want to get my entry for the newbie challenge done. How can I still consider myself a newbie after all this time? That sucks! But in truth I've not learned much in that time because I've always stayed in my comfort zones. The only thing I've strayed outside with is lighting, I really love making new rules for that!

So yeah, hopefully I'll have something to show for it all.

Why can't you still be a newbie. I am still a newbie when it comes to DS. and Cowrara and Hex

However, like you I have several things on the go in other apps, just can't find the time to finish them. One for the PC inspriraions contest, if it get finished, one for the PC October challenge, if it gets finished and one texturing project, promised as a prize for next months Freebie Challenge.

Hmm, now which should I concentrate on.

I am a total Bryce and for that matter Hex newbie!
If I ever do reopen Bryce and do a render, I would not feel wrong posting it in the beginners comp! %-P
lol, it took me 3years to get my driver's license so do not feel silly!!!

Thanks for that, I think I needed a verbal cuddle this time to be honest.

Hard on myself? Oh yes, I'm that ok. But in fairness I have been told as a kid so many times that I'll never get anywhere with anything I feel that I either have to prove my mother wrong or (according to a counsellor) I have a fear of success because of all that. Anyway, that's enough analysis.

So when did DS get instancing? I've got a feeling it's been in there since DS2 or something and I've simply never used it because I've never come across it before, but today I wanted to create instances of a ground plane and found that I actually CAN do that in DS. First time I came across instancing was in Bryce and that was a real "OOOOOOH POWER!" moment, and then I found that Carrara had it too, and probably every other app... But in DS I just didn't even look.

I've nearly got my environment set up for the newbie challenge, but that's only a part of the challenge for me. I tend to make things very one dimensional in a 3D picture! In the sense that I have my main focus, and my environment, and that's it, no nice touches, no distractions, nothing that makes you think I've put some feeling into it. So this time I'm hoping to fill that gap.

Decided Infinito is either bugged beyond belief or I'm simply not bright enough to use it without crashing it. Either way, I'm giving up on it! Am currently playing with this fella, the Ecomantics Efficient Ecosystem ( http://www.daz3d.com/shop/ecomantics-efficient-ecosystems ). Looks rather good, and certainly renders very prettily. I'm not using the presets though, they didn't give me the effect I wanted.

    So. It's playtime!

instancing new, and Ihave not tried it in studio yet.
I do not have infinito, it is a plugin to help studio do some stuff Carrara has done forever.

Yeah but I'm more familiar with the DS workspace and workflow than I am with a Carrara one, and I was very VERY curious about how well it worked. Truth is it might have worked very well if it didn't crash, and if it wasn't quite so fiddly, but I don't personally get along with it all that well.

When it comes to DS, I feel like my mindset is similar to my mindset when I used to program games all those many years ago, whereas when I work with other 3D apps I feel like my mindset needs to be all modern and I need a uni degree in mathematodimensioartististuff. Or something.

So my learning curve goes a little like this...
If I learn to pose, layout and light in DS, I'm also learning to pose, layout and light in Carrara, Maya, 3D Studio, Cinema 4D and anything else nature might throw at me.

If I learn to model in Hexagon, I'm also learning to model in Modo, Carrara, Maya, 3D Studio, Cinema 4D and... you're getting the picture, yes?

And then when I'm ready, and ONLY when I'm ready, I will kick off in Carrara and Maya.

I did leave out two of my favourite programs from that list of learnings. Bryce and Vue. Neither of those are as specialised as they seem, though they do both EXCEL at landscapes and scenery, but I feel that Bryce has a very long render time for a good quality image, and I find that Vue is on another level when it comes to just about every part of it, IF you spend a fair bit of cash on it. The basic version is actually a very good price, and then you want more, and more, and more, until you might have well just save up and buy the best.

I'm gonna post my first WIP in the newbie contest now. It's REALLY a WIP though, only the environment is done.

Peeks in reads about a render. Runs off to gloom on it.
