I really love the stereoscopic effect on your most recent render. Different colored emission lights on each side? :)

Awww thanks! I'm glad you like it! I did four lights. A fushia/pink light on the right, a blue/green light on the left, a bright white light above her, and a purple light behind her on the left.

I haven't really gotten into rendering layers, yet, but I've seen some amazing work and TabascoJack recently had a little mini tutorial on rendering out layers in Iray in his thread here in the Art Studio.  The start of his tutorial starts here if you want to follow how he did his outer space image which was really cool.  You should definitely take a look at that when you are ready.

Your links don't go to anything except his profile. No one mentioned that?

I didn't mention it because I didn't want to bug her when I could find it. I just googled "rendering out layers TabascoJack" and found it. :)

I think I'm finally done working on my skin settings.

Rendered with Iray. Very light post work in Photoshop.

Skin created with V7 skin + G3 base skin + Photoshop work + plus lots of settings experements. I don't think I can get her any more realistic than that, at least not right now. Maybe in the future after more experience, but I think I'm pretty happy with it for now. What do you guys think?

Now hopefully I can relax a bit and make more renders instead of spending all my free time with my head in the skin surface settings menu. lol

Thank you, Knittingmommy! That's sweet of you to say! :D I really like how the skin is coming out with the settings and the skins I've been working on. I am not totally happy with it as I'd love to get it totally photorealistic but I'm not sure I can do that yet. There are parts of it that are still a give away that keeps it from being completely photo realistic. So hopefully eventually I can get total photo-realism. For now though I'm done working on it as I want to start to learn more of Daz Studio like sets and lighting. :)

Thank you for the sweet comment! That put a smile on my face!

Is that a custom texture too? I don't seem to recall the texture map having that much detail to it :)

Would you be willing to share your presets in a PM? :)

It's a custom skin/texture, yeah. It's a combination of two skins with some photoshop work as well. I'm not sure how to share presets, is there a tutorial you can share the link to? I'd love to be able to share my settings. I also plan on sharing the skin texture as soon as I figure out if it's against the TOS or not. It's basically a modified version of V7 and the G3F default skin. I'm not sure what the rules are with that.

That would depend on the skins you started with and what their TOS is.  Most merchant resource skins stipulate that you can't just give away the skins you create with their base skins.  They are for personal use or commercial use only, but can't be given away as a freebie.  If it's a combination of two skins from purchased figures, here or elsewhere, you can share your process, so others can duplicate your results, but not the actual skins.  Others would have to purchase those skins, too.  I think there are a few place where you can get base skins to start for non-commercial use and, if you use them, you are allowed to then redistribute your skins.  I believe ShareCG has a couple of bases. It's been awhile since I looked.  Of course, if you start with your own pictures of skin (there are sources to buy them) and, then make the base skin yourself, you can safely redistribute those as well.

Ah, I see. Yeah, I probably wouldn't be able to share the skin then, since it's based on Victoria 7 skin. :( I'll have to see about making some "from scratch" skins to share.

I will try and see if I can find a tutorial on how to share skin settings though. As long as they don't have the skin texture it shouldn't be an issue with the TOS. I just don't know how to do it. Unless I just post screen shots of the skin settings. But entering in all those settings manually is a pain in the arse and I'm sure most people aren't going to want to do that.

Most of the screen surface settings I've seen people share have been just that, a screen shot or two of their setting in DS.  I've some done all in one screenshot, but I'm not sure how they get it all in one unless they combine two and spliced them together to get all of the settings to show up. I'm a little on the lazy side so whenever I've share my surface settings for something, I do two screenshots.

edit: fixed an error.  don't know where my head was when I typed that.

Deviantart users typically use screenshots :)

I've been playing around with skins too and my trick is to turn limits off of the bump map and boost it to 10 or higher. Gives a nice effect especially at higher resolutions :)

Some other users recommend using a vein map as an SSS texture. I noticed some light bluish veins in your render, so I suppose that's what you did too?

I'll have to try the turn limits off trick. I'm going to experement and see what that does. Thank you! :)

And yeah, the SSS vein map is in "Translucency Color". :) I have a slight peachish shade set with it. I'll have to see about getting some screen shots together to post if I can't find a way to share my settings in a more user friendly way. I know it's a pain in the bottom to set all the settings manually.

I started with an awesome free pose by @Zeddicuss : http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/1131216/#Comment_1131216 and did a few tweaks and modifications from there.

He has some great free poses on his website, I highly recommend them. :)

Thanks, @Saphirewild! The pose is heavily based on a pose by Zeddicuss from his Wild Pose series: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/1131216/#Comment_1131216

Product testing for strangefate_asdf for his awesome weapons. I've never done product testing before but it was fun and his weapons and poses are fantastic!

Background/environment is a freebie with PC membership. Boots, pants, and corset - free (included in Genesis 3 Starter Essentials). Upper body armor is "The Destroyer for V4" which I scored super cheap during the V4/M4 sale. Hair is "Dark Wolf Hair" which I managed to snag along with the "Stephanie 4 Pro Bundle" for $14.

Iray renders with light contrast and color tweaks in Photoshop.

Playing around with some freebie HDRIs. The newbie in me who still hasn't figured out good lighting LOVES HDRIs! lol I did add a bright spotlight too her left and behind her a bit, But I think it might have been too bright. I don't know. Lighting is still a pretty big mystery too me and I'm fumbling around like a drunk in the dark.

Iray render with post work in Photoshop.

Given that its a bright sunny day at the beach I kind of like the really bright lighting.
