WIP - Car (Sci Fi)
Modelling a realstic car is fairly easy because one can follow an existing model. But the problem with that route is that the mesh won't be truly yours since the model you copy isn't yours to begin with.
In the end, you end up with a mesh that is restricted to "editorial license".
So, I wanted my own design that is mine.
Starting a new car model from scratch has been hard for me. I attempted various methods, like staring with a simple cube and shape it down to a car. In the end, I made this model from a single line (2 verts).
After about 5 failures, I settled down on a model. This car hasn't been named yet and I haven't done any interior. I can start interior only after exterior is finalized due to an active modifier. Once external features are finalized, I can apply the modifier and can start work on the interior without deforming the exterior.
I have done plenty of spaceships but a car was a first for me, so my next (sci-fi) car model will likely improve.
It is a sci-fi hover car based on ion thrusters. It has no wheels and maneuver with thrusters. It's used in low/ zero gravity environment.
A feature that is often overlooked in sci-fi models is thrusters - a mean to maneuver. The current model is missing top thrusters which I will add later.
This WIP car is about 80% complete in exterior.
This is modelled in Blender.
A car was supposed to be added in my latest render "Autumn is coming" http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/88896/my-render-may-23-autumn-is-coming
This was the car that didn't make it.
Comments
Failed models.
And a wireframe shot of the current model.
And its door moved away. I haven't done door mechanism yet.
Exterior is finalized. Basic interior has been modelled. Door rotation (opening) is set.
I added a race queen for the render.
