FREE Portrait Backgrounds Collection ~ Post Them Here!
As many of you know, SereneNight and I posted free backgrounds in my Art Studio thread. (Yes, they're buried in there somewhere.)
I really liked the style of SereneNight's backgrounds, and asked if she would make more of them. And we both wanted to have them handy for everyone to use, so obviously both of our threads wouldn't work as we're both very active posters and the backgrounds would get buried again. So this solves that problem!
SereneNight has generously got the ball rolling with ONE HUNDRED free portrait backgrounds. (Yes, WOW!) These are 719 x 809 and 72dpi. That size is wonderful for portraits but you can even elongate them/stretch them for long horizontal scenes! Add Ron's brushes to them or other postwork, there's unlimited possibilities!
EDIT: If you want to post render examples of the backgrounds that you've used, or are contributing, that would be fun!
And we'd love to have your help to build the Free Portrait Backgrounds Collection. First:
1. THESE MAY NOT BE RESOLD. THE ORIGINATING ARTIST RETAINS ALL COPYRIGHT / OWNERSHIP.
2. NO SIGNATURES OR MARKS ON THE BACKGROUNDS. Follow SereneNight's examples.
3. If you contribute backgrounds, please post the dimensions. We recommend the 719 x 809 as the minimum size for each side.
4. No scenes- this is the portrait collection. Gradients / borders are the primary focus.
Enjoy!

Okay, done! You can post now.
Thanks Novica! My backgrounds are free for commercial use, no attribution required. Enjoy them.
I have 2 I am happy to offer.
Dimensions: 2000 x 1500 and 1600 x 2000
Free for commercial use. Enjoy
Here's some grungy parchment kinda backgrounds, 1000x1300 and 1000x1000. Free for amost any use (don't pack them up unaltered and sell it somewhere as a set of backgrounds 'cause that would be sucky.)
#4 is kinda neat, three variations on that one depending on how you want the scratches. The black and white (4c) version you can use over anything, set the layer to screen.
Here's #4
These are all awesome! I love backgrounds, since I Render on a laptop and my short works are much improved by not having to use an environment. I like all of them. Thanks guys!
Here are a couple I whipped up.
The Abstract Vector background was made following a tutorial on Youtube.
Kismet2012, take a peek at your background used by Barbult. Looks awesome!
Thanks Fisty and dHandle!
I tested a squares one on a portrait I already had loaded, I like it, so I'll do some more. I am also posting my notes here, if you have Corel Photo Paint you can use this formula. Or, get an idea using PhotoShop or whatever program you use.
Size: 1000 x 1000. Start with a darker color than you want, for example the first one was actually a medium/dark slate blue! It will lighten a lot.
Effects>Texture>Brick Wall. Settings: Roughness 31 Width 116 Height 73 Grout 19 Light Direction 315
Effects>Creative>Smoked Glass: White. Tint 62 Blur 100
Effects>Blur> Gaussian Blur 6.0
The brick colored ones had a light gray, and a darker gray, instead of white. I also changed the Gaussian Blur to 3.0.
