Does this have like a water splash function? So like when somebody does a cannonball in a pool a proper splash is done?

Huh? I think you posted in the wrong thread.

Actually I did mean the other thread although a believable 'water splasher' would need a randomiser function to a degree.

I think anything with morphs can be randomized.

I just found this thread the other day, so of course, I ran out and bought the product.  Great fun, and lots of possibilities!

After getting a quick handle on what can be created, I wanted to start saving some face morphs.  Immediate problem:  Is there an easy way to create a thumbnail to go with the saved morphs?  Those blank exclamation points in triangles in squares aren't helpful at all!

Now that I think about it, and look around, I have a lot of those!  Any way to fill them in with meaningful images?  I know they need to be 91x91 pixels, but that's about it.

More importantly, is the ability to create thumbnails a feature of this product that I missed?

    Thanks!

they can be another size too, although I forget what.

One way, would be to load the preset onto a character, and then line up the camera to the sort of shot you want, then save as a preset, just keep the image if the preset itself isn't needed.

Hopefully Richard will pop by and tell you the best method, I'm sure I read something somewhere.

I loaded up the preset onto a character, positioned the camera and saved the image as a 91x91 pixel .jpg.  I put it in the presets folder with the .duf file.   I made sure that they both have the same filename, except for the extension. Then I refreshed the list.

It didn't show up as I was hoping.  I somehow need to link the jpg with the duf.

    Any ideas?

Ummm I think that it would depend on the "splash" object and whether or not it has morphs .....then it could make variations of the splash .........

    pose - G3F - Standing 00

    pose - G3F - Standing 00.duf

Did you make sure to finish the image's name ends with .duf. If you have extensions visible then you will have:

    pose - G3F - Standing 00.duf

    pose - G3F - Standing 00.duf.png

    EDIT

I just made a new thumbnail as a test, I made it 256x256 pixels, and it displays fine; so chose a size that suits.

Good stuff!  I played with it and discovered that it accepts G3FStanding00.png quite nicely.  The G3FStanding00.duf.png (with the .duf in there) works, but isn't necessary.  Also, the 256 x 256 is a nice touch.  When you mouse over the icon, you get a much larger preview.

    Thanks!

One odd thing is that I couldn't get it to work using a .jpg extension.

    Oh well...it works now!

Sure thing, @Sonja !  And thanks!  I am still playing around with it.  If I come up with anything neat, I'll make sure to stop in and post.

For those on the fence, the SimTenero Randomizer is in fastgrab at a really low price. Run, don't walk, LOL.

  • nicsttnicstt Posts: 11,715

Agree; it's worth full price so a grab it while you can.

I would definitely run if I hadn't already had months of fun with this thing.  Even the fact that it's in FG already can't take away all the fun this thing has given me.  I don't regret paying the intro price at all!  That being said, if you don't already have, I would definitely grab it while you can!

I agree it was worth every penny!

So finally succumbed... here's a result of DAZ Dragon 3 randomized.

Randomizer is LOADS of fun if you mix in lots of creature morphs. This was pretty much the first result I got, immediately loved it. Chimp skin seemed to work best for it.

Interesting how different figures have morphs set up.

I found Daz Horse 2 relatively easy to set up, because it had breed groupings.

MilCat and MilDog, on the other hand, were pretty useless; there wasn't a handle, that I could see, to randomize by breed. So everything looked bizarre and sausagelike.

I've just bought this but I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do with it. The pdf doesn't really explain much.

I don't make my own figures much, just rely on those already made.

Can anyone give me a bit of help please?

  • Oso3DOso3D Posts: 15,011

Select figure, run script, it gives you a list of the morphs associated with the figure. You select the ones you want randomized and roughly how 'much' they can be randomized, then run it.

So, for example, I have a Genesis 2 figure with the big pack of morphs plus some ethnic morphs. Running the script randomizes things like 'bodybuilder' and 'heavy' and 'thin' and the various breast morphs etc etc and I then get a random figure. Who might look terrible or awesome, and then I can tweak from there.

Thanks Will, have had a play and so far just fat ugly females! Will see if I can get some nice figures after tweaking things a bit.

It sounds like you are selecting too many morphs at one time or setting the value too high. If you don't want fat, don't put the checkmark on morphs like Heavy.

Yes take a good look at which ones you have checked.  You can save your settings to use another time as well.  Once I find a set of morphs that gives me some good characters I save them so I can load them again without trying to figure out what I did the last 8 times.  For instance I have a set saved that have some fantasy morphs, asian and african morphs only because I was looking for a specific type of gene pool.  I have one set that has everything but the pregant, heavy and fantasy stuff... Saving each set you like makes loading them much quicker as well.

Also worth remembering that if it's close to what you want but looks kind of goofy, you can go through the morph used and tweak it to make it more of what you want.

I'll definately second the motion request for Zoom / Pan viewport sliders.  I'll have to see if the rotation slider works if you have multiple cameras / viewports  - face + body for example if doing both face and both the same time.

Also, where is it best to point the "Export Shape" to ? I mean, where in the directory folder structure is it best to point it to so saved morph shapes can be saved to and easily found later?

I mean, for example, to export the shape, and to be able to find it in the Smart Content -> Shaping (or whichever proper category) -> (your custom folder here) -> (your Optional custom sub folder here) -> "your custom named export shape.duf" .  (similar to how its easy to find the SimTenero Randomizer via Smart Content  -> Utilities -> Scripts)

Would have been useful to have this instruction in the user guide. This would also be useful when wanting to backup your set of saved custom exported shapes - knowing where to find them opposed to them being scattered throughout the runtime folder.

The Load / Save selections on the other hand is fairly straight forward: make a folder wherever is convenneint to for you and go back to it to load your favorite randomizer settings.

    thx!

It does go to a folder, give me a bit and I will load mine up and let you know where it goes.  (at work so it may take a bit before I get a chance to look)

  • IceDragonArtIceDragonArt Posts: 12,548

Okay so my characters get saved to My Library (the one above the MyDaz 3D Library once you have Studio loaded)/Presets/Characters.  I have no idea where Smart Content would put them as I don't use it.  I do custom categories for all of my stuff so I know exactly where it is so once I make a character, I go to the My Library/Preset/ Characters and copy them into my own categories.

Does someone allready saved the morph selections for G3F Head and Body Morphs and would be willing to share the file?
