This is what you get when you combine 'The Outback' with the 'Easy Environments: The Rock' for a little billabong scene.... I rescaled the water, but otherwise didn't do to much to change the settings.
Okay the croc is a little toothy and the lunar lander is serving dual purpose as an off-road vehicle, but it was planned as a scene on a colony world for an RPG setting.
Stunning work brad, thanks for posting!
I woundn`t ever have had the idea to combine these two sets, nor would I have expected it to work that well. ;)
Outback came out just in time for a cover requiring mesa formations :D Since the world needed is not on this planet, I played with the color. I love how easy it is to alter the skyboxes to suit a book's individual needs. I also used the rock formation from Top of the World.
Greetings,
The new set looks excellent, and just the thing for my occasional Uncharted themed render!
I wanted to address this quote:
I woundn`t ever have had the idea to combine these two sets, nor would I have expected it to work that well.
Combining sets is a LOT of fun. I was setting up a scene and wanted a cave on a beach as the background... I haven't gotten back to the full image, but this is what I came up with...
This is Eternal Sands and the Rock. Eternal Sands is rotated some... It's just a WIP render, but it nailed the look I was going for.
Cypherfox, that looks great, even as WIP.
I know mixing up stuff is fun, it just sometimes really surprises me how you guys come up with things I neither expected nor would think they`d work so well. E.g. the rocks growing out of the sand look pretty natural.
Thanks for the comments guys, always appreciated!
Fair word of warning though, due to all the water and vegetation render times are slower than on the other easy environment sets. DS copes with it quite well, but Poser (for me)...pretty slow.
Your sets are always optimized the best you can get them. For the render quality I'm more than willing for a longer render time if you think that's the case.
At this moment I'm trying to decide which set to use for my JUST for fun PC Contest render. So many choices...
Indeed, I usually try to keep things clean and easy on the system, it`s almost a curse I carried over from the game design days. I like clean, but in some cases DS or Poser wouldn`t even care.
Reflections and transparency (with shadows) are just slow though, not much I can do there. I am actually happy with how DS handles the set, got rendertimes of about 10 minutes (still longer than the other sets). On Poser I had to tinker with my standard settings so I could sit through it ;)
Oh, you worked in games too? Either I didn`t know or I just forgot it, you never can tell when plagued by a leaking memory ;)
10 years ago, who would have thought that skyboxes find such a nice use in offline rendering, but kinda disappear from games?
Well, some still use it, but I think it`s mostly dynamic skies these days.
Flipmode, how did you know that I needed just this one (Oasis) badly?! It looks great, and in combination with 'Eternal Sands' there must be lots of possibilities. I just bought it, and now I'm off to play with it! :-)

Time to preview the next set =)
Here`s two more previews, of rather informative nature, showing included props and how it looks combined with "Eternal sands". ;)
The combination promo looks awesome! How long do I have to wait to add Oasis to my runtime?
Thanks :)
Not long, it`s planned to release early next week.
Yeah
Time to buy the next set.
SFX: cash register noise.
(Well, nearly time...)

whow, it's already (virtually) in my cart!
Lovely addition to the collection.
Well, of course it does into my FULL collection as soon as posted. I love these sets.
Thanks for the comments guys, always appreciated!

LOL!! Your preaching to the choir bro. I'm one of the few that knew what a Sky Box was when you got started... ;-)

I used to dabble in FPS and Dark Basic in the Day. Both used the Sky box at that time. FPS still can and even add layers for dynamics.

The Oasis looks great, now I need to find a usage for it, cant be that hard, just got an idea ;-)
Edit: Idea done ;-)
Afghan Navy
Thank for Flipmode for the creation of another excellent environment setting.
Here two variations on lighting for an idea. :-)
Come
Dixie as desert girl :)
and a mix and match image:
skybox from the outback, terrain from the oasis with ground texture from the outback and mixed plants :)
