today's small step
the 4 dress shapes that will be used to form the 4-phases-CollarBend-morph
( it's in fact the dress being rebuilt using a shrink-wrapping script )
Cute, that really is a 'little' black dress :)
hopefully i'll be able to reuse the work done here and tools for other dresses and well, summer clothes when it comes
today's improvement:
yesterday you saw the 4 dress shapes that will form a 4-phase-morph
today you see the 4 morphs in action
the collar bones were rotated by 1-degree steps
there's no poke-through, even as the dress stays tightly wrapped
( a script is emulating the ERC mechanism for now )
you can also see the plane that was used to during the shrink-wrap operations
Better and better.
Aiko3 bodycon news
integrating the morphs in 4.5 didnt work as planned
so i'm moving the dress dev team (me and imaginary crew) to daz studio 3
here you can see the lCollarBend1 morph action on the dress
second image is a first attempt at blending the collarBend morph
when only one arm is lifted
Does this mean this dress will be a DS3 item only, then? If so, many folks, myself included, won't be able to use it. DAZ doesn't even let you download DS3 anymore, do they?
You can ask Support. They may allow it if you really need it.
oh it just means, i'll use DS3 to complete building the dress
but this dress itself will be compatible with all versions of Daz Studio and all versions of Poser
here's the latest multi-phased-collar-bend demo
the way the middle part of the dress moves is not entirely satisfactory
I've been lurking and watching this. Looks good, very good, and I appreciate the care you take to make it so.
Thanks for being so precise, and I look forward to seeing this finished.
I have yet to find a DS3 resource that doesn't also work in DS4.
(It's the other way around that's sometimes problematical.)
So are you still working on this? It looks pretty good as it is.
so, to recap ... :)
i made a slim-fit dress then worked of a 4-phased collarBend morph
it works pretty good but not perfectly
what i'll do very soon is to publish the body con dress in its present state
i just have to add the thigh/buttock bend morphs
( which explains why Aiko was always standing straight in past renders )
( working on the "sit" or "walk" morph )
progress report
worked a bit on the leg-sit-or--walk morph
for small leg-joints rotations, like during a walk it's not needed though
It's looking good. Very good. Love the spectral texture, and...ok, I admit it...the only image I enlarged for better viewing was the equations on the chalkboard. I'm such a geek....:red:
i used this while trying to figure the rotations of the vertices as they are rotated around the buttock and thigh joints
but i'll use a sort of quirk of DS 4.5 to do the job for me
i create the leg-bend morph, which fixes poke-through for a leg-bend angle of 90 degrees
and it's moderately easy since i work in transformed space
then (if all goes as planned) when i save the figure and i reload it, Daz Studio
made all the complicated work that moved my morph up the
to-do list it goes through when displaying the figure
shown below, the 2 leg-bend morphs in action ( in DS 3.1 )
and the song that goes with it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDZPl2DXaI8
that's the (brand new!) sit morph
so uh the always hazardous prediction for a release date would be this weekend
----
* note that this Quad amplifier and Tuner are low'ish-poly props available for free on my site )
good news i found the way to take a morph applied to a posed/morphed clothing item,
and transform it into a standard early-applied base figure morph
and i'll add an unrelated image because that's so fun :)
a reference image to study how real-life bodycons react to sitting poses
Bodycon news Sunday edition
so i was able to make the 3 leg bend/sit morphs
there's a little imprecision error to fix
then i have to rig it ( or not ... i could leave it to the owner to adjust them manually )
so release wont be today 'cause i want to change my mind maybe watch youtube vidz or something non-productive like that :)
bodycon news update
the leg-bend/sit morphs are now part of the DS3/poser-compatible figure
( whereas before they were only "living" inside DS4.5 )
meaning ... it''s not ready but but but i'm not stuck ! :)
what stockings and boots are those, if one might ask?

How do you make the knee high strapy sandals to stay on Aiko's feet? When I parent them, they move off quite a bit. o_O

i think you have to select the shoes and create a keyframe
if the thing to keyframe is a figure, you do a "Memorize / Figure Pose" followed by a "Restore Figure Pose"
if the thing to keyframe is a prop/object , you do a "Memorize / Selected Item" followed by a "Restore Selected Item"
you access the Parameters Tab option menu by clicking in the upper-right-corner of the Parameters tab
there's also a "Parent Items in Place" menu option in the Scene Tab which is related to this issue
bodycon news update
now that the legs bend morphs are in place i have to tweak them for the intermediary positions

Sounds like a poser thing, I gots me Daz. ^_^;;
it's in Daz Studio
the parameters tab is normally present on your screen
if not it's made visible using the Windows/Pane(Tabs) menu
then in the upper-right corner of the Parameters tab
there's a button that brings up actions that can be performed on whatever is currently selected
memorizing and restoring the selected item or figure pose effectively "keyframes" the object
and this usually prevents the shoes from jumping away when you parent them to a body part
the batteries of test Amy has to go through!
