The details on this are amazing!
As I said in the other thread, they l look like they stepped out of the screen.
Thank you!
Did someone say 3D printed Chocolate Finishes?
I wish!!! It's actually our single color bronze, but looks just as good!
The bronze is gorgeous!
And Woot! My dragon is on the way! Will share pictures here when it gets here and then I will be detailing the painting process on my blog once I get started. Have to go buy some paint, there are a couple colors I don't have that I need.
Day 1, 3D printing a new figure.
Focus on SLA Support structures. Here's why you need them.
T printed twice, once without supports and the other with.
If you notice the model on the left, we did not include supports and resulted in a failed print.
Not all structures require supports, some structures can use overhang like Y in the figure below
Supports are generated by from the slicer's, which is the software used to generate the 3D Printable file that the printer will use! Usually in a format called GCODE.

Here's where the artist who ordered this figure, got all his assets.
The model is Freckles for G3 by Sabby and FWArt

The wings are Biosuit Butterfly for G3 by Laudanum3D

The hair is Crazy Hair for G3 by Goldtassel

The lights are the Noir FX-Subset from Render Studio Iray ‘Scenes’ by Colm Jackson https://www.daz3d.com/render-studio-iray-scenes
I’m not certain about the pose but it is probably from Zeddicuss.
Printing the wings, Still Day 1!
I just got mine today ... Looks good.
If I were to want to paint on it at all, I am guessing that the minature paints like warhammer paints for 35mm figures would be good? Or something like that.
Here is a bad picture of the model. It looks better in person. New camera.
Is that Goliath? Very good.
Hey it looks cool. Enjoy!
yes those paints can work! Does it need touching up?
Nonesuch, it is Beorn from the Hobbit book.
Thanks GamePrint. There is a bit too much painted in highlight on the arms and I was going to add a bit of dry brushed hair.
OK, thanks. I\ve only ever read a non/illustrated book of those.
Well make sure to show us the before and after!
The movie was good!
Got my dragon today. I'm very very impressed with the level of detail that it has. Even his pointy teeth were filed out which is awesome! (they are tiny, I have no idea how they managed it but not a single tooth is broken or missing) I was a bit concerned that the texture wouldn't come through on his skin since I didn't increase the bump but its all there and looks great! I took pictures of the unpacking but need to take better pictures of the dragon himself, I didn't have my normal set up and they are a bit too blurry for my liking. And there are absolutely no seam lines anywhere, not indication of where they glued things together, and all the peg marks are completely gone. It looks like one unbroken piece, which, considering I got it with just primer on it, so I could paint it myself, is really fantastic. Having spent hours sanding out seem lines on ceramics, I know exactly how much skill it takes to get that right. Too much or a hair to little and its painfully obvious. Overall a fantastic job and I will most definitely be getting more.
Will have blog post up of the unpacking probably by Wed. but will also post here. Very well packaged as well. 110% satisfied with this!
Hanabi has a few videos for a figure of her's that she's working on;

Its my opinion that painting miniatures (like Games Workshop 2" tall figures) require different skills than these larger 7" ones. If you're considering getting into this, I'd recommend going down to your local game store and see what people are doing. I'd also recommend watching some youtube videos on how its done.
Icecragon it was a pleasure working on it.
I'm going to share my latest arrivals in this thread, another example of great artwork. I was extremely happy with how the figures turned out. These figures are based on characters who have a special meaning to me, so it makes me really happy to see them turn out so well. A special thanks to the entire GamePrint team for doing such a great job here!
Here's the original render of the two guy standing together (actually, Mage Elder Neve and his Paladin Lucius, from Demon Division: Dwellers). They are elderly characters, so it shows in their faces with lots of wrinkles.
They arrived facing each other happily:
A shot done under lamp light, compared with one done in daylight; both don't do the figures justice, but the clours look dramatically different.
Some more detail shots:
The details on the faces are amazing. Check out Neve:
And the two guys (Mage Elder Seth Caelen to the left, Dan Tae to the right), who arrived earlier this week, also shot again under natural light:
The skin tone looks almost like ral flesh. If you wonder about the right hand guy, the skin tone is right. He's been stuck in a dungeon without much light for a couple of years. With his hair, you also can see the effect of the scale-up. It looks kind of Reinhold Messner like, though in the render and figure, the hair is much less voluminous.
The detail work is fantastic, and I can't thank the artists and "preparing crew" enough for making these beautiful figures.
Of my Christmas binge order, there's only the Centaurs left. The 7 inch single colour shipped today, so it should arrive tomorrow or on Thursday. The Collectible is still in production - I hope that GamePrint will feature the "making of" off the collectible?
Thanks, Bee, and we will definitely feature the making of the Centaurs!
Day 2, Off with the head!
The head we sometimes print separately, and it could be for many reasons. We sometimes do it to make modelling a little more convenient, as we can grab the head and paint it up close. We also sometimes do it cause the model is huge, and does not fit inside the printers build envelope. Or sometimes we do it to re-do a part of the print that could have damage.

Day 2
Clean up work! We have to remove structures and make sure each model is ready to be primed.
The model can’t be rough around the edges, or have rigged texture, unless that was the artist's interpretation.
ABOVE:
This one was supposed to have smooth skin, so our modelers paid attention to do it faithfully.

Detail of the leg - needs to be cleaned.

Fixing imperfections of surfaces.

Polishing edges of the wings. They shouldn’t be very sharp or rough.

Day 3 Base coating

Initial painting is usually done with an airbrush, and this was the case here.

Skin’s mostly done
Day 4 Detailing

Model has been masked with a masking putty to protect skin from being accidentally painted over

Wings receive initial detailing from an airbrush

Both sides of wings are painted in slightly different colors, following the reference provided.
Day 5 Final photoshoot and she's ready for shipping...

After adding details the model is done. These required some paintbrush work because of their fine size.
