welcome !
thanks i corrected the link ( which was merged with the word "so" )
np, Works now.
Thanks so much. I was trying the link on the first page. I'll download when I get home from work.
important update and fixes
the DS1/DS2 versions had become non-functional
fixed
it still worked for DS3.0 and DS4
but not for DS3.1
actually it didnt work well anymore with DS 3.0 and DS4, the emission didnt happen at the position of the emitter
but now it does !
you can make great particle effects with it
tip: to increase the smoke/particle flow, create your particle animation at a frame rate like 150fps
then set the FPS back to its normal rate, like 30 fps
and you get a 5X flow
https://sites.google.com/site/mcasualsdazscripts/mcjjet
for this 30 frames animation ( which could be directly used in video compositing , take it )
loaded a 60-billboards figure
i created a vertically standing cylinder
set the timeline's FPS to 120 FPS
the playrange from 0 to 120
selected the cylinder
launched mcjJet
adjusted the settings as you see below
it's the [Default Settings] but a narrower spread, 5 degrees and the end of simulation is at frame 120
ran the script
changed the frame rate back to 30 fps
X-Scaled the hole billboard figure for a narrower jet
changed the opacity maps for all the panels to the one shown in fig 3 ( take one! : ))
Oh, what fun. Thank you very much. I'll play with this when I take a break from my programming class.
next version will probably have the color gradient option
sodium flame color gradient, software render
( next version of mcjJet )
both the ambient and the diffuse color of each "particle" are animated
but there's still a small looping quirk to fix
----
fig 3, a 30 frames, 30 panels animation with precise looping .... almost
there ya go, perfect looping 30 frames. 30 billboards
( twas a case of division-by-zero )
------
did you know virtualDub can load animated gifs? now you know
the animated gifs on this page are copyfree
wow that incredible.
does it work in daz 4.6?
it's supposed to work in 4.6 yes, but the color-ramp effects are not included
they should be soon
there's all sorts of issues to fix, like the rotations of the billboards, which strive to always face the camera
I absolutely love these flames. They're great.
today i should fix the billboard/panel orientation issue and post the new version with the color-ramps/gradients
the panels always face the camera which is good, but they always stand up, this was good for billboard-trees but not for rocket flames
getting there ...
i didn't remember it but mcjJet already supported 3 types of billboard face-the-camera options
Doncha just hate it when you can't remember how cunning you have been! :)
the new mcjJet will have improved billboards-face-the-camera processing
sometimes when the camera was moving in relation with the planes, they did strange flips

I like your steampunkettes video
looks like you are using a lot of scripts there
and .. you really have your own style...I like that
though I am not Bob (or God)
there will be a color-ramp selector for the ambient color
and one for the diffuse color
maybe one for the opacity (fade out ) effect which is presently directly proportional to the "age" of each emitted particle
and using your own color ramp will be as easy as saving a 32x256 pixels jpeg image in mcjJet's "colorRamps" folder
tomorrow i publish the new mcjJet with color ramps, i just want to make it a bit more fool proof
ah i think i understand now ....
seen from Amy's point of view
the billboards are narrow vertical strips of light,
that's why they don't illuminate her much
i'll try cone-shaped particles
-----
fig 2 : using a 4-panels-per-particle figure
---
Blender-Cycles is not really suited for scenes with concentrated light sources
if you scale the billboard figure before computing the particles animation, you can get stroke/line shaped particles
Wow! Impressive.
i'll do a few tests in DS4.6 ( doing most in DS3 )
and post it today if all goes well :)
DS 4.6 tests underway !
and i fixed the offset function, which was used to move the emission point at the top of the cone
fig 2 - UI resizing because pixmap.resize crops instead or resizing
fig 3 smoke'ish
tested in Daz Studio 2.3 and 1.8
for people still using their 386sx
kidding kidding, i meant 66MHz 486 beast
mcjJet 2 is now on the net !
tomorrow i'll update the manual
https://sites.google.com/site/mcasualsdazscripts/mcjjet
i decided to leave the old mcjJet be
and added mcjJet 2
in case there's backward compatibility issues or something
one important point to note is that the script comes with a subfolder containing some color ramps
you can create your own as long as they are in jpg format and are 256 pixel wide
https://sites.google.com/site/mcasualsdazscripts/mcjjet
oops i now see the thumbnail for the ds1 version is 800x800 :) don't think it will cause problems
mcjJet 2 update !!
while writing the manual, i discovered the burst mode's final fade-out phase was not there anymore
so if you downloaded mcjJet2 last night or this morning, better re-download it
https://sites.google.com/site/mcasualsdazscripts/mcjjet
also note that mcjJet2 will soon have its own web page / manual
and it will be at https://sites.google.com/site/mcasualsdazscripts4/mcjjet2
Amazing! Thank you very much!

The new mcjJet 2 with color-ramps lives here :
https://sites.google.com/site/mcasualsdazscripts4/mcjjet2
also a new 360°billboard figure and a new cone-shaped opacity map for the billboards
This is pretty darned awesome Casual. Thanks so much! :-)
thanks for your nice tool
both links give a 404 response
hello casual
would it be hard to make a script for "ctr-d" for an animated range ?
I always do this frame by frame and that's not fun
