Carrara Challenge #38 - Cartoons and Other Guilty Pleasures - Winners Announced
Welcome to the Entry Voting Thread!
We are opening the Entry thread early - only two weeks after starting the Challenge - to help artists avoid scheduling conflicts at the last minute. The important dates are:
February 2 - Work-in-progress thread opened
February 16 - Formal entry thread begins
March 5 - WIP and Entry deadline, voting begins
March 12 - Voting ends, winners announced soon after
Reminder of specific entry requirements for this month:
1. There are three categories you can enter: 1) Toon 3 filter, 2) Homage or Original, and 3) Stezza's Dog. You need to tell us the category of each entry. An entry template is provided at the bottom of this post.
2. Toon 3 renders (Category 1) must be primarily driven by the Carrara Toon 3 filter, in any style, with no postwork. Homage or Original renders (Category 2) are single-frame cartoons, in any style, with postwork allowed. Stezza's Dog renders (Category 3) must include the character of the dog, in any style, postwork allowed.
3. Enter up to three renders. For those who do all three renders, the following constraint applies:
You can enter two renders in the same or different categories, but a third entry must be in the Toon 3 category with no postwork.
The point of the above restriction is to encourage more artists to explore the Toon 3 filter.
Other, more general rules, are posted in the WIP thread.

Co Ordination between the Panzer grenadiers and the Armoured vehicles was cructial for the blitzkrieg effect that the Germans utilized at the beginning of the war.
As not all troops had access to radio's it was paramount that the co orination take place so face to face was the only way. Later on in the war on the back of British and American tanks there were telephones mounted that would allow the infantry to talk to the tank crew with out the crew having to expose themselves to enemy fire. Thus the coordination could be condutcted on the move at as slow pace the the infantry commander could direct the tank on where to fire if required.

Voting is OPEN!
Here are the basic instructions:
General
A. Anyone with a Daz account can vote.
B. Anonymous voting is allowed if you feel you have a good reason (e.g. forum moderators who don't want to give an impression of favoritism). Please PM me your votes if that is the case.

VOTING ENDS MIDNIGHT MARCH 12 (DAZ TIME)
Categories and prizes
Many thanks to our sponsors!!
Votes will be compiled by the host, and then entered into four prize categories. An artist can win only one category. If an artist has the most votes in more than one category, the next higher finisher in the lower category (as they are listed) wins the prize.

Title: DragonRider
Artist: Shlomi Laszio
Comment: When the challenge was announced, we were thinking along the same lines, that old Ralph Bakshi combination of toon/lined characters on painterly backgrounds. I preferred your earlier WIPs with the painterly backgrounds but this is also on point. (Please learn to place larger pics in your posts .)
Entry # 22
Title: Co Ordination of Armored Support
Artist: Chickenman
Comment: It can be very hard to get the lines right in the faces of small humans in larger scenes, and there are a lot of them in this image. And don't get me started on getting only outlines on so much foliage. In each case, it is easy for the density of the lines to obscure the object. But Chickenman's faces and plants remain clean. I was only disappointed that I did not find the chickenman character. Maybe he is behind the tank, or is a sniper off in the distance aiming at the tank crew.

And of course there were a few more that I wanted to vote for. Spy versus Spy, Take me to Your Leader by Bunyip and Chickenman's Co Ordination of Armoured Support and Dragon Rider by shlomi laszlo were amongst them.
Thanks so much to UB once more for running a fun challenge, thankls so much to for PHILW once more standing up as a sponsor - and of course thanks to Daz for their generosity.
I'm in awe how the quality of the work in these challenges has sky rocketed.

Comments: All of these made me laugh. No matter where in the world Carrara artists live, there is a universal sense of humour, and even for non-Brits... IRONY! The renders are all creative and amazing. The toon and/or NPR rendering is fast becoming something I have started to experiment with using baby-steps and the WIPs here. Thanks UB for explaining the different methods so clearly at the onset. I have followed along with some of the previous ones, but am a slow learner and this challenge really helped. The black outline effect (poster edges) I used to just do in PS, now looks much better done in Carrara.
Once I am fully reloaded, I can't wait to try some more of these techniques out. Cheers to EACH AND EVERY ENTRANT for sharing their knowledge and techniques! Please don't ever stop entering and injecting Carrara with new life every time.

Great artwork presented here. As always, it was absolutely easy the select the four I found best well, not really, it took me quite some time.
