Comment: I like the way that the text does not appear to fit to the scene. And a lovely dog too.
Entry # 13
Title: Let’s Dance
Artist: Bunyip02
Comment: Great idea and very funny, that dancing alien, while the girl can be either scared or dancing too. I also like the shadows, that in my view, appear not to be in the right place.
Entry # 15
Title: Missing Post
Artist: Stezza
Comment: Meep, meep! Wonderful link to DAZ and Roadrunner should always get my vote. Only thing missing, is the 12 ton block with ACME on it, that will fall on coyote’s head after the explosion.
I've been away from the forums for a while, real life through some not-so-nice stuff at me, but happily looks like I made it back in time at least to vote :)
Such great work, I'm blown away once again by what you guys can do. Very hard to select just 4. Several were very funny and made me laugh out loud :)
entry #19

Artist: Diomede (Ted Muphy)
Toon 3/Homage or Original/Stezza's Dog: Stezza's Dog.
Once again, we have reached the end of a Challenge. Before offering the well-deserved congratulations, here are some random thoughts and thank-you's.
Maybe it was my unusual choice of theme, or because of a weird planetary alignment, but for whatever reason, only 9 artists entered this Challenge! Yes, we had a good number of total entries, yet the bulk of those came from 6 artists. For this Challenge to continue moving forward, I think that we need more participants. I know that life gets in the way at times, so it was probably just the "uncertainty principle" at work. For example, a physicist will tell us that there is a given probability (very small) that all oxygen molecules will suddenly rush to one corner of a room, leaving all people in the room gasping for air. So it is possible that many Carrara artists who normally contribute had to deal with other things this month, and couldn't enter. There is likely no way to ever assign a single cause to a lack of participation, but I think that it is always worth mentioning and discussing. Whatever the reason, many thanks to the 9 artists who stepped up! Thanks for being willing to experiment with outlines and toon materials.
I want to single out and thank Stezza for contributing the most excellent dog model. :) The talent of Carrara artists never ceases to amaze.
Also, thanks to the voters. Voting is the huge unsung part of every Challenge. To establish clear voting trends, my goal in a Challenge is to get about the same number of voters as there are render entries. You guys exceeded that, which made it relatively easy to decide the prize winners. Plus, you offered great comments! Those comments were deeply appreciated by all artists, probably more than you know. Kudos to you!
As always, thanks to DAZ for sponsoring the Challenge once again. Thirty-eight straight!
A huge thank you as well to Phil Wilkes for being the PA sponsor. He continues to show us how a Carrara-oriented PA can thrive in the Daz universe. On a personal note, besides his great products, I have found his advice to be invaluable. I doubt that I would be here without his support. So if you don't much care for my style - blame Phil! :)
So much for the warm-up act. It's now time for the main event.
"Overture, curb the lights. This is it, the night of nights!"
A hush comes over the audience. The tension is so strong that you can cut it with a knife. A single spotlight appears on the odd- looking podium. From a corner of the curtain, a strange person strolls towards center stage, wearing an obvious smirk on his face. Wait a minute. That's not a person - it's a coyote! And it is not a podium - it's the missing post!
And that, my friends, should give you a clue. :)
It was a tight race. Fortunately, the results were clear and unambiguous (no ties!).
The awards in Carrara Challenge # 38 go to:
Best Participation: Stezza (#15 and #17), $50 in Daz prizes
Best Cartoon Homage/Original: Head Wax (#19), $50 in Daz prizes
Best Toon 3 Image: Diomede (#3), $50 in Daz prizes
Best Use of Stezza's Dog: UnifiedBrain (#4), $45 in Daz prizes
In addition, Phil Wilkes has chosen his favorite two renders upon which to bestow the Carrara PA award. Each artist will receive an item of his choice from Phil's Daz store:
Diomede (#1)
Stezza (#15)
Congratulations, everyone! I will send a PM to the winners with instructions, hopefully later today .
Note: Head Wax won the Homage/Original category (instead of Stezza) because of the rule that no artist can win more than one category.
The Daz prize results posted above are also the order of ascension to the throne for hosting Carrara Challenge #39. If the heir apparent (Stezza) declines for whatever reason, the next in line (Head Wax) is asked, and so on.
Stezza, the spotlight is on you!
Th_th_th_th_th_th_that's all folks!
Wait a minute. It ain't over till the fat lady sings.
Congratulations, Stezza! Unanimous acclaim. Can't wait to see what you come up with.
And congrats to HeadWax and UnifiedBrain. Well deserved.
Also thank you to UnifiedBrain, Daz3d, and PhilW for running and sponsoring the challenge.
The entries by all participants were terrific. As I've said elsewhere, the entries in this challenge have a different overall appeal than the other challenges. Not better, just a different look. I like that very much.
Thank you to everyone who found something worthwhile in one of my images. Much appreciated.
On the topics of number of entries, number of participants, requirements of challenges, etc., lets keep experimenting and see what works. I will generally intend to participate as long the tradition is going, but during any given month, I might not make it.
Hey Diomede. It didn't surprise me that two of the most noted cartoon advocates in Carrara - you and Stezza - were so popular in the voter's eyes. Stezza got 19 total votes, and you got 18. He won by a cat's whisker!
"Overture, curb the lights. This is it, the night of nights!"
You know I spent over 50 years thinking the words were 'kerkle lights'!
I only googled the theme lyrics last week and was surprised to see that you had a different interpretation on the words as well...
this is what I found them to be 'Overture, curtains, lights, This is it, the night of nights'
so now who do I believe ... lol
and what is a kerkle light anyways!
Thanks everyone who voted on my images.. very much appreciated.
Congrats to the other challenge participants for entering.. we have very varied tastes but it is great to see everyone's interpretations of the challenge...
keep entering
Congrats to the other challenge winners ... I'm sure your images give inspiration to many, many forum viewers.. It does to me... great work
Thankyou Daz for your continued support of prizes to us Carrara users.
Thank you Phil for selecting one of my images and supporting the challenge.
Thanks UB for your hosting skills... a challenge itself to do...
I have an idea!
and I hope we get lots of entries for it... but give me time to set it all up...
I believe that you are correct, Stezza, on the Bugs Bunny theme. We hear what we want, I guess. :) But it's fascinating that you googled the theme only last week. Great minds.
Congratulations to the winners and thanks to UB for the wonderful hosting. There was some amazingly creative work on show, including some which defied that they were actually done in a 3D program!
Nice to see some familiar avatars return for some votes. For example, Hello @d-j-o. Hope all has been well in your corner of the the 3D-verse. Still love your great race vortex, but you had a different handle then.

UB, Daz's Britney, and PhilW really processed this one amazingly quickly. Must be a record. Thanks again. Here is a quick Prince Valiant render using PhilW's paige hair on M4 instead of V4. Never knew you could switch figures if the hair was grown directly on the mesh.
