I bought the Fanta Sea Hair, and I am sorry to report that the hair materials use the Emissive channel in Iray. Hair is not a light source. This is not realistic. I don't need another 27 two-sided emissive surfaces to render in Iray. Every emissive surface has the potential to slow down the render slower.

Totally off topic… Trick 'r Treaters have descended in hordes this year. By far the most we've had for any Halloween. Hubby had to run to the store for more candy! We've always bought two bags and usually have just under one bag left. Not this year…

Hope you all are having, (or had,) a fun evening.

We had only 5 kids come by.

This was a very bad year for us. Only 6, and one was a group of adults. I'm okay with it though. I won't have to buy candy for the office candy dish for the month of november.

Halloween gets bigger over here every year - which annoys a LOT of people, as it's considered an "american tradition" (yes we all know the origin of halloween, but I'm talking about the commercilization and the trick or treat thing which is seen as very american) But fortunately in our small town, it's handled by the local supermarket - you sign up there as a "safe house"...as in, a house where trick or treaters can go. And they don't go anywhere else. Which is a good thing cos they'd get a rude shock if they turned up at our house - my husband is absolutely rabid in his dislike for the whole treat or treat halloween thing LOL.

    That's 5 more than I had

I had 3 kids that came at 21.00 in the evening, just when I was about to go to sleep. Way too late and completely dark out. No adults in sight, made me wonder what kind of adults would let their kids out like that, especially as the kdis didn't even speak swedish.. for their sake I hope they got lots of candy and didn't end up yelled at.

@3ddreamer    That looks really good! When you're fitting female stuff to male, does the autofit thingie just pop up and you select the appropriate figure? I know many people use outfits across the genders, but I haven't. I don't have time to even do the gender it's made for LOL.

For that quick test I let Autofit run, when I have a bit of time I'll probably convert it and save that. But I haven't even started G3M-G8M clothes convertions yet...

Thank you, I did purchase it, but when I tried to fit it to G8M it crashed my Daz. I know I could parent it, but at this point with the general lack of male specific stuff, if I'm going to buy female stuff it better work easily and properly with my male figures right out of the box. So I have decided to return it.

I hadn't any issue on my laptop, which isn't high end anymore :-( I was running it on 4.10 not 4.11 Beta if that makes any difference. Would love to get Crossfit of G8, use that all the time on G3.

@Barbult I didn't check the Surface tab to notice that - pity :-(

Thanks for the info!  I, too, purchased it, but haven't had the opportunity to try it out yet.  I will make a note to do so when I get home tonight.

I was quite horrified when I read this, but thinking about it maybe it's meant to be unrealistic because it's Fanta Sea (fantasy) hair. Still, I'd have thought something so resource-intensive would get a mention on the sales page though.

Another OT- copy and paste this in Google search (it's on chewy dot com) and watch the golden retriever video.  Product is adorable but pricey. I can see why though, and if a pet really does have separation anxiety or goes nuts during a storm, worth the money I guess.   PetChatz HD Wifi Two-Way Audio & Video Camera & Treat Dispenser   and then also from that site:

Very cool! As far as storm anxiety, after one of my dogs (first in 30+ years of dog ownership) had severe storm anxiety, I made sure to take my puppies out to play in storms from the moment we had them. Being crazy excited and playing with them in the storms I hope helped them ignore them. Whether it was that or something else, the three dogs since have had zero anxiety about storms and will even go out and play during them. For the dog that had anxiety, it was too late; although meds didn't seem to work, we distracted him with treats and obedience commands, etc., and that seemed to alleviate it a bit, but not all the way. I was afraid he'd teach another dog to be afraid, so I didn't get another puppy until he passed. TMI, but it's so sad when they're afraid of thunderstorms if you live where they're intense as they are here.

  • My dog Emerald ignores them and sleeps right through them however my three cats want me to open the doors so they can run from one to the other and compare what's happenning

BTW, a Finnigan the Cockatiel note- only worked on it FIVE DAYS, and now he's saying "Good morning!" Yesterday morning when I went in to get him out of his cage for the day, he said, "Step up." I said, "What do you say first?" like I had the past three days (then each time I said "Good morning.")   And he replied, "Good morning!"   Then I said, "NOW you step up." And he said "Step up!"

Didn't say anything today as it's storming and he's rather perkily interested in that.   I'm now working on "It's raining!" and shot a video of the rain.

Will he watch the video? Is that for training?

I had a litle over 30. There were more kids out, but my hous is in whata lot of people consider a "dead zone", so to speak. I live directly betwen two streets, and am the only house in that little section.

How can he not like Halloween?!!! IT's my favorite holiday. Think about it. What other day of the year do you know of where it is socially acceptible to dress up in freaky costumes and scare the hell out of people? It's the perfect holiday!

Entered this into the pcrendercontest2018. Used a lot of ideas and posing found in this thread. Grateful for that. The 5 year mission

to have progress along the leaning path.

    Description

No story. :-) This was a fun image to create.

I’ve used the Ultra genesis lights as they work great and I like the Heart Shaped catch lights when using the heart mesh light. And, using the background method below gives this image a nice look.

Cobbled together from items bought within the past couple of weeks. I decided to create an hdri straight black image that I used for the dome. I think it works much better than setting the environment to black. I’ve started to use this technique with other images. And, I always use \tone mapping\white point values set to 0.20, 0.20. 0.20. This matches perfectly to the gray card’s that I use for when I do real photoshoots. Than make minor adjustments to the other tone mapping values if needed. Saturation between 1.30 and 1.5. Spectral rendering ON. , Mitchel 1.35, I use these settings on 95% of my images.

Thanks for looking and reading if you do. :-) less

    Made with...

If someone happens to pick up this hair: https://www.daz3d.com/fanta-sea-hair-for-genesis-8-females would they be so kind and try it on a male figure? I like it, but I don't really need it, and since I'm not really somewhere where I can render, this sale is tempting me to buy stuff I don't really need, just because it's cheap.

Had to wait until I got home from work and bought it, but I am pleased with it for the guys - lots of dials, that you can tweak how it sits.

Oh wow! He looks hot! I love guys with long hair. I never would have thought to do that. I have the hair, now I have to render some rocker dudes!

Do you have Colorwerks? I’m using it on almost every hair lately. Totally worth it and the Fanta Sea Hair is so cheap, it’s worth getting to just use with other hair shaders. OOT has great shaders at Rendo too.

Halloween is HUGE in LA. For adults! There are tons of costume parties all over the city, probably like 500 over the weekend. All the clubs have parties, tons of house parties...  I went to three big house parties both Friday and Saturday (as Alice in Wonderland LOL) Everyone is in costume even at supermarkets, the bank, doctors’ offices, everywhere, it’s crazy. Then there is the big West Hollywood costume parade that thousands attend. Where I live there aren’t many kids, just grown ups who act like kids!

I'm just annoyed as you are, but for a different reason. I have the money, but Daz didn't include any bundles released in 2018. That means the two bundles I want but don't have aren't included.

RE: video for Finn-  yes, he does appear to be watching it on my iphone (which is one of the huge screen ones) He definitely recognizes the noise.

Question- does anyone else find the shoulders on this outfit weird? (Vintage Soda)  I don't like that pointy stickup style. The poofed up shoulders (shoulder pads) in later years I had weren't pointy, they were rounded. Don't know what they were going for here.

I think (with a closer look at the promos) they are meant to be gather-topped sleeves - there used to be a fashion for those years ago and I had several dresses and blouses like that. This is one of the less extreme ones I owned (some stuck up a full inch-and-a-half)

Yeah, that's what I was thinking of. Don't know why I said shoulder pads, those went horizontally on the shoulders. I had outfits like the one you're showing, and they weren't pointy to the extreme of that product's shoulders. I just don't like it, but it's personal preference. It's a shame because there's nice material sets with it.

Did you notice Amazon Pay is now an option when you check out?  And my Paypal is hung up, just did an order and it's spinning and no order confirmation coming through.
