  • Is there an easy way to set the point an object pivots around to 0,0,0 along with the angle it is at?  I have a wrist watch model is at an angle for the default of a figure -- I'd like to put it somewhere else...  the same for single shoes...

May not be easy, but using the Joint EditorTool allows you to change the Translation and Rotattion origins by moving an 'aim point' for each

Thanks -- I was hoping for something easier ..  I tried that, but will go back again.

I've found selecting the item and then creating a group will usually set the group origin to the 0,0,0 of the object. I just turned off the beast, so I can't test it on a rigged prop, but it will only take a moment for you to give it a try. Anyway, I've used this trick to move, scale, and rotate objects. Maybe it will work for you.

wow - thanks!  that works.. at least gets me in the ballpark.  From there taking out the rotations is easy.

Nice tip, I shall have to try and remember that!  Also useful cane be usign the hip bone of the item (if it has one).

Personally, I don't think the Christian 8 morph looks anything like the Edward 8 morph, in spite of the conversation in the Christian 8 thead. To prove my point, I've done side-by-side comparisons. The default shape figures are compared here, in the Christian 8 thread, and the HD shape figures are compared here, in my WIPs thread.

So what do you guys think? Is Christian 8 too much like Edward?

Thanks L'Adair. Very helpful to see your two set of images. I see lots of differences as you do, although my first impression seeing a similar skin color and bald head shape makes me think they are very alike. Hair and clothing may help illustrate the difference between them too.

They look similar to me as to not warrant a new base. To me, Christian is what Edward should've looked like. The basic geometry in the face is similar enough, Edward looks a bit more smoothed over, but there isn't much difference between them.

There also is not a lot of difference between Nix's basic shape and Base males with the skinny morph dialed in. His head is different though.

I really question the continuing insistence on base figures. It seems more a way to make a buck. Many of the base shapes aren't radical enough to warrant a new figure, especially since very little is made for them after release.

I've been feeling this way for quite a while. I have been slowly changing my thinking regarding "base" figures. It's like reprogramming yourself after being in a cult. LOL. When I first see a new figure and bundle, my instant reaction is "ooo gimme gimme". But I walk away and later come back and seriously look at the offering. Clothes? Look like everything else in the store. Poses? Please. There are a gazillion pose packs in teh store already and the ones in the pro bundle are no different whatsoever to them. Hair? Well I'm an AprilYSH addict so I'll want them...but it's rare to find something different being offered in a new pro bundle (especially when it's not AprilYSH, and especially when it's done by a vendor whose work I loathe). Characters? Well, I'll look at the skin - the morphed characters are no different to others...but it's the skin work I'll look at.

Seriously, unless a new "base" figure is something extreme - alien shape, toon shape etc - they are honestly not offering anything new. I miss the days of when we were getting morph packs - muscularity packs giving us bodybuilders, barbarians, etc.... voluptuous packs, giving us larger figures, larger breasts, larger hips etc.... fantasy and/or alien packs. The body and head of a new base figure is nothing new or different - I am liking the skins, but seriously, the whole base figure thing is something that I am over.

New 'base' figures are nothing more than a way to make a buck, as Serene Night says. The psychology in the daz marketing department is the best I've seen, I'll admit that. We all WANT the new base figure and the pro bundle, cos we have been programmed to think that it's NEW and SHINY and OMG MUST HAVE THAT BODY AND HEAD SHAPE. But that body and head we ALREADY HAVE.

So yeah, I'm over new figures and new pro bundles. The cost is prohibitive anyway, but unless you are doing fantasy shapes and alien shapes and SOMETHING DIFFERENT, I'm out.

I really question the continuing insistence on base figures. It seems more a way to make a buck. Many of the base shapes aren't radical enough to warrant a new figure, especially since very little is made for them after release.

Same here I also miss not having every morph automatically installed in the figure

I don't need every morph pack I have bought installed in a figure it gets ridiculous real quick

I much prefered being able to just inject the ones I wanted

Not really but they could be mistaken for one being an older version of the younger one.

To most viewer's eyes there are only subtle differences in the nose, lips, eyelids, chin and apparent body fat not not too much body fat. And these non-caricature type Pro Bundle products almost always err on the side of being to muscularly skinny or muscular than to be outright thin (Nix 8 nicely skinny with lower muscularity then usual though). If one thinks the default G8M isn't fit or muscular (although not a bodybuilder or average muscularity combined with excessive low body fat) then once can see the problem with the DO Pro Bundles all being that Hollywood Leading Man sort of body type and weight. Craniums and foreheads always look the same and there are some big real difference out in the real world.

Great job on showing those together, and I totally agree with you, they are very different. The nose has the bent imperfection on one, the philtrum area is totally different, etc. They don't look like they are from the same family, agreed.

It's hard passing up the Pro packs when they drop to $33 bucks plus change, and then throw in cheap gift cards, and a bunch of free items, etc. But I also agree some of these base characters should just be characters.

How do you get the price that low? He's in my cart for $46.29. I'd go for $33, but $46 is too high, imo, when I have Edward, who is so similar.

I agree. The men's faces, in particular, look very different. The shapes of the eyes are different, the nostrils, shapes of the mouths, etc. They're all different.

I actually like Christian 8 far better than I like Edward.  But its a moot point because I'm tapped out.  I just don't need anything else and $40 or $50 for another pro bundle just doesn't make sense for me anymore.  Even though I really really want to support more male stuff, I'm done for a good while.

    Christian 8 Pro Bundle 57919 1 $33.06

I think the deal when I bought it was get this and that and get an extra percent off.  Anyone remember?  You had to get add-ons IIRC?

  • NovicaNovica Posts: 23,887

Okay, it appears everyone got different banners and mine was "extra 50% off" the Pro Bundle and add-ons, so whatever the price is, multiply that by 50% and it ends up at the 33.00 mark. I also got the 25% off gift card and $100 of freebies, and 70% off Places and Things. There were different amounts for different people, depending on the number of pro bundles purchased.

Which brings up the point of buying Pro Bundles when they are dirt cheap to qualify later on for the amazing deals. If there's ever a major glitch and the bundles are under $10, even if you have a lot of stuff in them already, it may be worth considering? It's all a game of marketing and they do seem to reward owners of pro bundles repeatedly.

I think it was based on the number of Genesis 8 Pro Bundles previously purchased. Do you have that many Genesis 8 Pro Bundles, or that many total for multiple generations? I only had 12 Genesis 8 Pro Bundles, and my offer was signifcantly lower that Novica's.

I believe I have 32 of the 8 Pro Bundles, the only one I don't have is Aiko 8 I think.

I had the standard 40-ish priced bundle. I have 17 gen 8 pro packs.

i prefer Chris to Edward as well. To me Edward looks looks less detailed than Chris.

In the Christian 8 thread, there were two people with the same number of bundles (8) where one got the lesser deal and the other got no deal at all. It suggests there is more to it than just the number of G8 Pro bundles. The customer that got the deal had 5 male pro bundles.

I got the same deal as Novica, and I'm pretty sure that wouldn't have happened if I hadn't picked up 7 Pro bundles the last three sales of the year. Two were free with purchase, one with Eva 8 pro and the other with Nix 8 pro. Two were during the PA Festival, (I finally got Floyd and Mabel, just over $23 each with my PlatClub coupon,) and three were during the PC+ sale at a little over $26 each.

LIke @Novica said, it can be well worth picking up those Pro bundles when they go on sale. That 7 put me up to 26 bundles, with the 50% off Christian, 70% off Places and Things, $100 of DOs and 25% off one GC. I passed up the GC, and only found one P&T that I wanted. Had a tough time finding the DOs, too. It's not that I have so much content, (though I really do!) but I had trouble finding things I actually wanted.

Agreed. The comparison using the G8M materials really emphasizes how much the materials add to a figure/character. I really like Edward in his own skin. But he looks a little like the Pilsbury Dough Boy in G8M's materials!

Wow! I think you should send a hlep request to Daz to ask whether you should have a higher discount, if you are interested in purchasing Christian.

You still should ask why you didn't get the deal I got. Feel free to reference me :)

I kinda wonder if there is more going on than just buying bundles with why some people are offered different deals. Such as recent activity....trying to tempt individuals not buying recently into spending etc. Also do bundles purchased for free as part of a deal count as bundles or not...etc.

I wondered that, too- none of my pro bundles were free that I can remember, from the 8 series. I spend on a regular basis, not as much as I used to so far as amount, but frequently.

In terms of when I give Daz money, I don't "buy" all that frequently. I've gotten into the habit of buying as big a Gift Card as I can afford when the disounts are there. Other than a couple of small, ($10 and $20,) GCs for contest prizes, I haven't given Daz any money since the first day of the Holiday Rewards Sale.

Robert Freise, feel free to reference me as well, when you contact Customer Support. I have fewer G8 Pro bundles than you, (although all of the male releases to date,) and I got the same offer as Novica.
