I did get a 10 dollar banner for old daz originals this morning. I think the original survey said we’d get sitemail. But I assume the 10 dollar pop up was it.

Site mail is the Messages link under your Account, the banner is just a repeat of that.

Thanks to the survey coupon I just paid 95 cents for Lee 8 laugh

Got a $11 GC with the coupon (yes, it is valid on GCs), then bought Lee 8 using the DAZ O Platinum coupon, and I still have $1.27 left on the GC.

And yeah, unrigged dforce clothing would probably not be something I'd buy.

How did you get the coupon? Is it a purple banner or did you get it by email?  I haven't gotten it yet unless it's a banner.

    Purple banner and mail.

I try not to spam this thread with all the promos I do but I had to share this one. I just love this character.  Zaria for Gia8, I believe she was released yesterday here in the daz store.

That's a great pose, @IceDragonArt !    Zaria does have a great face it seems, at least in your very nice render - she's distinctive enough to have some presence and personality that makes her more memorable than so many of the female characters.

Thank you!  She is straight out of the box, so that is pretty much what you get.

Here is a render of the new Maxx HD for the Brute 8 character. It is an excellent quality product with many preset icons for adding and removing all the features. It's also organized in an easy to follow way.

Maxx HD for The Brute 8 is how all DAZ Originals and PA products should be made. It is a complete package.

Juniper HD (Gen8F)      Divinity- Athena Outfit (Gen8F)

I wanted to show you a really neat approach to an outfit, which you may not have noticed if just viewing the main promo. THE OWL ON THE PAULDRON COMES OFF AND BECOMES A POSEABLE OWL!  From the product description:

"As she is also a goddess of wisdom, she is symbolized by owls, which are built into the armor. The metal owl on her pauldron in default is a shoulder and chest guard. But the owl was created by Hephaestus and given life by Zeus. It is rigged to be posable, and has expressions adding a bit of a sidekick sort of vibe much akin to Bubo from Clash of the Titans (while the ones on her greaves are static for decoration purpose) The pauldron owl's body and wings pose, so it can perch anywhere, or even fly off the pauldron and attack foes while in battle."

The outfit has a lot of neat color choices, you don't have to buy separate texture sets.
Here's a great gallery image showing another option for the color. Give it a like if you feel inclined. :)

    Juniper HD (Gen8F)

Here's a closeup. I think I'll try her in a different light while I've got her loaded, and will edit and add to this post.

Thank you for sharing! I completely forgot that I had that particular outfit wishlisted. I think it's time to get it wink.

  • I picked up Pose Architect and recommend it to anyone who tries to do most of their poses from scratch, but have issues with getting them looking natural enough. I wouldn't put it quite in the look at me class of usefulness, but it should be very useful.

Serayes HD (Gen8F)       Layered Fringe Hair (Gen3F/ Gen8F)      Party Monster Outfit (Gen8F)   but get the BUNDLE

I  got the Party Monster Outfit due to the bundle being $27.98 back on February 6th, it's rather an outlandish outfit as an ensemble- BUT the top is worth having and so are the various materials you get in the bundle. The undergarments could possibly be swimwear?  The outfit would be good for Halloween parties and ?   In other words, if you bought just the outfit, what would you use it for, if NOT for kit-bashing? Love to hear your thoughts. It's just not my cup of tea (but note it's well made) but the hair, jewelry, and character made it worthwhile for what I need. If you remove the flurries on the legs, that widens your options.

The bundle gets you Color Rave Dye Hair and Rave Jewelry, in addition to the textures, and also the Rayve character. Take a look at those texture sets, they're quite fun and have a nice variety.

Here's Serayes with the Party Monster Outfit. I made the waistband black on the skirt, it was white.

So here's when I swapped out that skirt, got rid of those leg things, and substituted  pants from Alirisia Outfit (Gen8F)   They do fairly well, I had to do minimal postwork to paint over pokethrough (even with collision increased.)  The pants have a black pocket and go well with the black option on the Party Animal Outfit.

TIP:  Change the color of the waistband in the pants to black, to match the black pocket. The boots also have black so it all ties in really nicely.

TIP:  Use Costume Jewelry Shaders for Iray on flat planes for interesting floor patterns.

And here's Serayes!  I love her  and the fringed hair. This is with a more "sunset" color light, although I did choose the light blush option too. Anyone who has more of Serayes, feel free to share.

This outfit lights up.  It would be perfect for anime renders and manga style renders as well as toon renders.

That's a cool render, @IceDragonArt , very club-kid and makes me think of the 90s' music by "Dee-Lite."      Just out of curiousity - on the subject of promos... I see various things in the gallery branded "sympatico studios" but with different artist/user names; is sympatico studios like a promo sweatshop that pays artists to do promo images for products or...?

Thank you for the kind words!

And lol, no, we are not a sweat shop, we are a team of artists who help content vendors promote their products.  Generally we do 8 images per product. There are more than 8 of us though so we have a system in place to keep things moving on time, which is why you will see some products that I haven't done, or someone else on the team did not do.  We don't get to pick and choose, we do whatever is on the list next.  Which has been really good for me personally, because its pushed me far out of my comfort zone.

That's an interesting point, Sonja.  I think sometimes we can start to develop a sort of artistic-muscle-memory that autopilots us when we're creating. It can be good to be forced to really start challenging our habits and if not changing all (or any) of our artistic decisions, at least refresh the discipline of examining and considering them critically. I got woke up to how much I did sort of reflexively with images in pshop (as opposed to actively considering and deciding *every* input and choice in *each* image) while I was mentoring a friend who was at the time a pshop newbie. Because it was new for her, she had no preconceived ideas about how and what to do and I was often amazed where she would go. It really made me try more consistently to challenge myself, guard against just flying by rote.    My friend and I took up a habit of taking turns setting an assignment, which was great practice for working outside my usual boxes.   :)

You did a good job with him, he's very appealing. I like the lighting behind him on the second one.

He is a good looking guy for sure.  I really like the second one as well. and I really like the posing on the first one.

This is definitely true.  One of the things I do as well, time permitting, is to watch YouTube tutorials on photoshop. I frequently learn new techniques or ways to streamline the process.  I tend to choose the tutorial that show a specific effect, or a specific tool.  And it frequently sparks new ideas as well.

I want to mention esha's new Tassel Jewelry Mega Pack for Genesis 8 Female(s). This is not just another string and bead jewelry product. This is really unique (to me anyway!). It has so many accessories, styles, morphs, materials, and even a few shaders. No wonder it is called a megapack! It has taken me some time to figure it out - there are so many options. I think there are still options I haven't discovered. Here is an image I made with a few of the accessories. I intentionally didn't pick a matching set, because I wanted to try out several different styles. I tried to select a unifying color theme, though. The tassels are not dForce, so you have to pose them manually to simulate they way they would naturally hang. This is not very hard, because there are so many controls on the links.

The image is in my gallery, where all the products used are listed.

That looks amazing. Do you mind sharing what lighting you used?
