been busy the past few days, lol. must be all the great sails. That B&W promo did ketch my eye, and the title was some what vague enough for me to look further, past the new releases page. I have a mountain of stuff to try out from the Amazing Skins thing, to some Stonemason sets.

I'll leave on the note of I wounder if I can mix/blend the DG Shaders with the Strange Substances Pack 1 shaders on some of the Stonemason sets, lol. (use them side by side in the set, not on the same surface)

"O" speaking of aliens, lol. The glowing Dragon is a cool one as well.

I'll take my leave before the servers go into sails overload again. chat later y'all.

Today's showcase comes from the Master of Monsters - RawArt. Not only is he a technical whiz, with all the geografting, fibre hair and character creating, but he's becoming an outstanding artist (check out his DAZ Gallery, there's some very nice Frazetta inspired art in there) Case in point the new ApeWorld Two promos, have just the right balance of menace and humor for Simians focused render. You've got the Gorilla with the gun holster and flag looking all powerful and threatening, and then you have the Orangutan trying to get a signal on the cellphone. That's creativity! Nicely done!

As soon as I saw that dragon render I had to buy these shaders. It was just too cool to pass up.

Yea, that is a good Ape dance scene, like it.
Kismet2012, I have yet to have some fun with that shader pack myself...

Coffee and a class. Been busy the past week, so there is two entries today. An attempt to ketch up, lol.

Coffee Shop; Some times it is the simple things, lights, reflections, surface properties that makes a render look good.

aniMate2 Mastery - Part 1; The shadowed out figure against a light backdrop effect looks good, and the depth of field in the lower part.

PA Sale is running on all cylinders now, and there's no shortage of new and interesting products hitting the shelves, plus some interesting promo art to look at. I particularly like Orestes Graphics Crates and Barrels promo, cause it just so darn detailed. Sometimes a promo just has to trigger an idea of how you, as an artist, could put the content to use. These do it. These props are also part of a larger set bundle with plenty of images to take a look at. There's lots of possibilities with the rowboat too.

I like a lot of the City Unseelie set of clothing promo pics.

    http://www.daz3d.com/city-unseelie-for-genesis-2-female-s

I particularly like this image because I like the characters' interacting. So often you get in images just a character standing there woodenly with no expression. This is a cute image I think.

Totally agree, having the characters interact engages the audience, namely us. Here's a couple that do it too, Avast Matey Poses by Feral Fey (really like the ocean water waves too) and Heart of the Labyrinth by Muze ( http://www.daz3d.com/heart-of-the-labyrinth ) both show alot more involvement on the part of the artist creating the scene, and the characters in it.

I liked the whole school prom nostalgia theme that carried over a few different promo sets this week. They showed complete slice of life moments that have all the little details that can make promo images interesting. Most were DAZ O's along with Bluebird's Prom Props, so it worked out to be a concerted cohesive effort that really tied the whole theme together. Who didn't love high school?

For daring to be different and pulling it off magnificently kudos to The Management for

Love the style, layout, colors, story. Leaped into my cart immediately.

Showing only one, well two, because it's the full version and I cannot grab the promo sized one. I don't want to re-jpg someone else's work. So click the link above and be sure you view every one of these so-very-well-done promos.

Texas Towers, at least that was the first thing that rushed to mine when I saw the promo in my email for the "Naval Forts" by Ansiko.
    http://www.daz3d.com/naval-forts
I know the platforms are not the same design or layout by any stretch of the imagination, still that is what I thought of. For that alone, it gets my vote.

The Texas Towers were a set of three radar facilities off the eastern seaboard of the United States which were used for surveillance by the United States Air Force during the Cold War. Modeled on the offshore oil drilling platforms first employed off the Texas coast, they were in operation from 1958-1963. After the collapse of one of the towers in 1961, the remaining towers were closed due to changes in threat perception and out of a concern for the safety of the crews. - Wikipedia.
    (edit)
After a second glance, it is the site of the legs that just don't look that tough to begin with. The very thing that doomed TT-4. Mind you that those legs go down another 185 feet (56 m) on TT-4 (Texas Towers 4).

I've had the ATRIUM for a while, and used it in a few renders, so it was very cool to see this redesign and retexturing by Jack Tomalin, it turned a useful prop set into a gritty realistic renaissance space that offers a ton of new possibilites. Plenty of camera angle options included in the promos. Great to see a master at work, The entire FALLen series is impressive.

This is a very simple promo, but for some reason, be it the camera angle, or the poster, or the quality of the jeans, it's a compelling image.

Is she dancing out of the catalog cover, lol. I will have to wait till Friday to see if this is indeed a dance outfit, or if it is another one to defy the laws of motion and gravity. It still looks good enough to get either way.

I think you're right, there is a sense of realism in the ground texture that helps clinch it. Looking at it a second time, the nails on the poster are hitting the gaps in the fence boards.

The Ballerina bundle promos are very nice. The previous generations of figures have also had dance outfits for them, (search: Degas) but the strangest ones being the tutu for the Freak. I know, you just can't unsee something like that, but as far as funny goes, definitely unexpected. Xena is listed as a creator in both sets.

Horror Survivor Chris is a nice outfit, and includes a hair and a cool trench coat. I don't personally care for the top, since it has some weird fit issues on the top. Perhaps it is because I usually make smaller chested females.

lol. didn't one of the Michal pro packs also include Victoria poses and a dress, lol. Or was that dress supposed to be a wizards robe gone wrong (Big Blue Dress), lol.

I've thought twice before purchasing a few figures as they kind of reminded me of Dolly Parton, a top heavy figure I'm not all that fond of. To say nothing of my lower back going into spasms just thinking about the excess weight issues related with that. So yea, keep them real I'll agree with SereneNight.

Techniques that can alway help a promos realism is the addition of haze, fog, or dust, either done as post work or lately included during the render process itself. Real life is gritty, and sometimes 3D just looks too neat and clean. Three example today all from PAs who have mastered the art of the promo. Dreamlights always been talented with postwork and lights, Stonemason's always manages cutting edge graphics be it in scifi or modern day, and DzFire's always deliver dynamic vehicles and renders.

The Day The Sky Opened. I've been rather distracted the past few days.

Kind of a ring thing, comes with a dialer, you hit the symbols, it spins around and lights come on, it kind of flushes sideways? - MacGyver, I meant Jack O'Neill, no Richard Dean Anderson, lol. This more a "Nephilim Portal", and I don't think it includes a dialer, lol.
    http://www.daz3d.com/nephilim-portal
The sand-shot looks oddly familiar. Funny how the thing was outright huge in that first scene in the movie, and it progressively got smaller threw the different shows, lol. If only I could find a good sand desert like this that was for Daz Studio instead of Bryce only or Carrara only, lol.

Starship Cyclone, Cylon, hmm. This product is bound to be liked by quite a few people out there, I like the sky in this shot.
    http://www.daz3d.com/starship-cyclone
Let me explain something to you. Many good men and women lost their lives aboard this ship because someone wanted a faster computer to make life easier. I'm sorry that I'm inconveniencing you or the teachers, but I will not allow a networked computerized system to be placed on this ship while I'm in command. Is that clear? - Adama.

It also has a resemblance to that hover-tank thing from Battlezone 2 (CCA Flanker).

It has been far to long, and the sails have no doubt kept most buisy trying to find and test there new stuff. It's been no different for me the past month.

Browsing the store today, I don't know how I missed this set construction kit.
"Snapping Asian Interior Construction Kit" by Kogamo and palin11.
    http://www.daz3d.com/snapping-asian-interior-construction-kit

It seams every one is doing Dojo scenes, agreeably it is very cool and eye catching. However there is so much more to Asian life. What ketches my eye this time is not the sparing in the top frame, it is the cat contemplating the shadows on the wall in the lower frame.

Promos with a sense of humor are great. This is from Uzilite the same artist that gave us the thumb sucking M4 a few pages back . I was hoping that a closer inspection of the reflection in the glasses gave a payoff for the dialog bubble but this is still above average and sidekick robot artificial intelligence is a great concept. Product and promo merge together nicely.

AprilYSH's releases always catch my eye. She has become one of my favourite vendors.

But I'm also drawn to the beauty of her promos with those pale, ethereal characters she creates. With the release of Mei Lin, she has created some gorgeous portraits to show off her newest hair.

With so many pretty women in the store I wouldn't normally add those kind of promo images here, but these stood out for me.

    http://www.daz3d.com/new-releases/creepy-poses-for-creature-creator-genesis-2

One thing I note in his images, is he often has an identifiable light source, and loves to play with the lines of light from this light source. He uses SSS in his images a lot, and he sometimes includes funny bits. The images always look well-done to me.
