"A 'redshirt' am I?  Hmm...?  Screwed royally  I am, yes...!"

I noticed the body/clothes beneath the robes of the Wartech Yoda resembled a simple "pullover" and slacks, so it was an easy matter to alter their shaders.  I did assign a new "collar" material zone so i could shade it black.  Slap a Starfleet chevron upon his left pectoral and "Bob's yer uncle!"

    Sincerely,

    Bill

One of the "wizard-style" robes without a hood might do reasonably well, with a plain grey cloth shader. Remember that the actors playing the Talosians were actually little old ladies, and plan your body morphs accordingly. Not sure about the necklace one of them wore, that might need to be a custom build.

  • My method of converting characters to G8 Could potentially work for V4/M4 characters as well. I still need to give it a try but I'm pretty sure it will work.

I on that note do still have Wertz's morphs. Those are the ones I want to test my hypothesis on.

Cool.  I have Wertz's morphs as well, but only ever used them in Poser back in the day.  I tried using them in Daz about a week ago but couldn't get them to work.  Any tips on how you're getting them to work would be greatly appreciated.

I imported them into Poser then re-exported the obj mesh after that Morph Loader Pro worked perfectly fine.

As for converting them to Genesis 8. I used a software called Wrap3/Russian3DScanner to map the shape of the morph to Genesis 8's head. I think the best way to interpret Wrap3 is to think of as 1000% better FaceGen.

That same method worked for converting character face meshes from Games to Genesis 8's head mesh. I've already tried it on character models from Star Trek Online. Chiefly being my main character (the picture I use as my Avatar).

It does indeed work both ways.

Not entirely Trek-related, but... has anyone heard any recent news of the Foundation3D site admin? The last I heard was that the whole site went down when he became ill in the middle of the site update. That was back in June or July, but I haven't been able to find anything since then.

is there any chance of a detailed tutorial?

  • My friend Shinteo made a very in depth tutorial for it

He mostly converts video game characters but for conversion of Wertz Star Trek Morphs to G8 in my case I added a step. I saved the OBJs of the V4/M4 or Genesis figures and imported those into Blender, making sure split by object was unselected so it would be a single mesh. After that I deleted all the mesh but the head and re-exported after that I followed what's in the tutorial.

  • Wrap3 is in laymans terms FaceGen but eons better. I have definitely found it worth the $300 I paid for it.

You're screwed even worse if that's the Enterprise, Yoda! devil

Kirk's "General Weirdness Magnet" and "Personal Luck Magnet" effects are far more powerful than the Force! You'll NEVER encountered anything stronger!

I haven't done anything Star Trek related in awhile, but an old render I did of Rule 63 (genderswap) Seven of Nine got some attention. I decided to do a Star Trek: Picard version.

Hey guys just a quick little stop in to let you know that nvent and I have teamed up to form digital toy box you may have noticed that he is back and producing outfits for the Genesis 3 platform I am currently providing the props for these outfits although recently after having had a very long talk with him we have decided to take it one step further and start to offer characters to go with those outfits as well we will eventually be working our way up to the Genesis 8 platform and higher resolution textures for the characters that will go with them there is right now in a bit of a learning curve involved so it won't be happening overnight however just FYI

Sounds awesome.  We desperately need some new material for Gen3 and Gen8.

Thank you! I've been looking all over the place for an in-depth tutorial to help me figure out Wrap3! I love Shinteo's work and wouldn't mind being able to do some conversions myself, but I couldn't find the tutorial for the job! Here's hoping that this does the job!

What are some good wardrobe options to use for TNG/DS9/Voyager era uniforms? I have substance Painter and I'm willing/expecting to texture myself. Mostly I'm just looking for a good geo base for the shirt/pants/shoes.

  • blutobluto Posts: 838
I think that kind of depends on what figure you're using there are a bunch of options for Michael 4 and Victoria 4 . maybe not quite so much for the Genesis 3 and 8 figures , but there are a few out there I have just seen a very good Voyager uniform just this morning PM me and I will give you a link for details as it is somewhat taboo to post a link here to any place that is not Daz 3d
  • There are actually some Genesis 8 TNG uniforms over on DevaintArt made by someone named amyaimei.

I've been wanting to take a crack at some texture sets for G3 or G8, but I don't have anything I think would be suitable.

Amazing that this thread is still going on after so many years. yes

Didn't see this freebie listed on the first page.  Ghostman did three Klingon head morphs for La Femme. They also work for L'Homme.

    https://www.renderosity.com/rr/mod/freestuff/?item_id=82283

Two of the morphs combined at half-strength, since she's only half-Klingon:

I've recently gotten back into Trek, and am looking for some of the more obscure alien morphs.  I'm a Poser user, so M4 would be ideal, but any Poser figure would probably work. Saru, anyone?  Or Dr. Phlox. Suggestions for morphs or figures that would be a good starting point are welcome. Paid or free.
