Carrying on from http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/2765/P375/#583626 I wanted to show the differences between a quick throw together render and one that has had a few days spent on it.

This new one has the same 3 AOA lights (1 Ambient and 2 Distant) as the quick render but duplicated 3 times. Each set Flagged for different surfaces.

The plants are one group as I applied Uber Surface to use the Translucency channel which increased the render times so much I used the Flagging function and dropped the AO down to almost nothing. That gave me back the quicker render times.

So I had on set of lights flagged for Diffuse at 100%
One set for the plants at Diffuse 99%
One set for Garibaldi hair for the dog
one set for the Figure and clothing which had Diffuse set to 80%.

Postwork consisted of slight Level adjustment and I mean slight.
Increased the Blue a little more
High Pass Filter set to 2 pixels, layer Blend mode to Overlay and opacity to 50%
Fixed some poke through on the shirt

Spent the past 45 minutes enjoying the evolution of your killer renders .Jeezus! Wooa, Cool, Yeah... omg, Ahhahaha and such were all that was heard from me.
I really enjoyed them. Szark, you have a very diverse imagination, and in each I feel I can relate and have a unique emotion fired off. Thanks!

LOL! That one was a poke the Pete. I have all the PDF's and the threads to read too. I'm just a lazy slob that moves at a snails pace most of the time. I'm also a pretty darn good cook I'm told.

Love your new Vue based image in the gallery. Fantastic use of materials. Was that an imported .obj object for the Daz figure? May I ask if so, did you then go and amend the materials in Vue? I used to have to change the bump depth and lower the Global reflectivity of the object to get it to look right in Vue

    Anyways, fantastic image!

I knew I had forgotten to do something, too eager to get to bed. Which I am still trying to do. LOL

Ok latest Vue render called Wandering Brian referring to http://itiseyemeeszark.deviantart.com/art/Brian-377346493

Rendered in Vue with the Tropical Cave www.http://www.daz3d.com/tropical-cave by Andrey Pestryakov and Genesis with Garibaldi hair which didn't export very well. Could be down to me using the wrong export info...something I need to play with.

Yes I exported in OBJ format and had to set up the highlights and Bump but with OBJ import I have never had an issue with high reflections but yes everything needs adjusting and I mean everything. :)

I have been working on this scene since I get my new PC.

I love Brian. It does not hurt that his spear is from the set I was involved with by Spyro. I just love the Figure too by the way.

Thanks. I know people keep telling me that but I don't see it myself. I struggle all the time with creativity and would to have an imagination like some around here.

awesome with your last comments today I realised that I may have an insight to how my mind works and how many of my images come together. You got me thinking about one of my latest images (Singing the Blues; Take 3 (below) with a Garibaldi beard and top lip fairy, skin tone and light adjustments. Oh and less postwork.). And you asked. :) .

So taking this image below as an example I started off wanting to do a Stonemason based render and whilst looking through my library the Village Courtyard popped out at me for not being able to use it properly with my last PC.

I knew I wanted to use AOA Advanced Lighting, Ambient and Distant. I just got them and needed to test and learn them.

I knew I wanted to make a quick and and dirty render. One day limit for start to finish. The reason http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/2765/P375/#583626 . Version One

I knew I wanted to use Gamma Correction ON at 2.2 as I have been doing many renders, tests and finals lately after having a crash course in Gamma Correction; what it does and why does it matter, with the help of this forum and some very helpful folks.

That was all that I had firmly set in mind.

So I loaded the set, set up a cool camera position, adjusted the focal length, set up the lights for some nice shadows. Did a semi quality test render and then asked myself what next.

Looking at the render and keeping composition in mind I saw the bottom part of the image was light. So I started to look through what chairs I had. Placed that, did a test, Nice shadows. OK time for someone to sit in the chair. Open a new scene, loaded Genesis. Stonemason theme remember so I had to use StreetWear Jeans and Sneakers. ;). I then remembered I hadn't used some Genesis Morphs I got a while back like Abominable so I had a play with that and few others.

Once I loaded him in the main scene and got him positioned that I realised he was too tall for the focal length of the camera. I couldn't move the cam back so I scaled down Genesis using the Child Morph. Posed him and the lute and rendered.
    First Version was born http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/2765/P375/#583626

Second Version http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/2765/P390/#585756 came, wanting to do more with the scene and the props used came from my sense of humour. Always thinking of ways and associated props that don't conform to the normal so to speak. Even the title "Singing the Blues" playing a Lute whilst having a cup of tea and the dog howling in the background all comes from my sense of having fun.

Forgive me whist I go all Freudian for a mo, but it goes deeper than that. More than just a sense of humour, back to when I was growing up and seeing how people judged a book by the cover. I learnt from a young age to be open minded. See past the skin. That got my far in my work and in making new friends from all walks of life, from all around the world. I would talk to many people that others shun, because they were different and didn't conform to the norm. But from taking the time to talk, to get to know them and whole new person emerged and in doing so made my life more richer and that little bit more wiser and educated.

The dog bit is pure fun as we have a new pup, 4 months old now and he howls when squeaking a particular toy.

Given what I just wrote you can see that the image evolved, after some thought, tapping my emotions, asking what would be funny, what would look out of place etc etc. It rarely happens when I have had an idea, an image in my mind and set to and make that vision. Mostly, if I do, I at least keep the concept on that envisioned image. Some images I have in my mind I cannot do as I don't have the skill, yet. ;)

I could never do this as a living, making images. I can't do instant images like a true artist can based on a particular brief. I do this for fun, for relaxation in this mad hectic world, at my own speed. Sometimes I don't want to sit down and build a scene so I test, read up, do more testing, write down the results. Take the dog out for a walk. Make the evening meal and do more tests, write down the results, do more online research. Use another piece of software, learn more about Photoshop. Weeks could go by and one day a test turns into an image.

Yes sometimes if given long enough say 2 months I have come up with something that has lasting appeal for me. I am not being negative just knowing my limitations at this point in time. Plus I am more happy doing complex images, that take months if not years in one case. I have had some ideas that I might be able to pull off with the new rig. But I want to do it big, really big.

Anyhoo I hope that gives you a little insight oh and never force an image, Let your muse flow...if it ain't flowing do some testing, watch or read some tutorails. :)

Another Vue render. I feel I am finally getting to understand and learnt not to listen to others about lighting but instead test things myself.

I was going through DIM the other day and came across a Vue formatted props from Stonemason and decided to test one out.

Title: Illegal use of a Twister

Streets Of The Mediterranean by Stonemason
    Cyborg Model 4 by DzFire
    Cyberpose M4 by DzFire
Twister TT by DAZ 3D and Serrge
Unicycle Bob by DAZ 3D and petipet
Floater Bot (old freebie) by Stonemason

Illegal use of a Twisted Mind. Wonderful Image and thought provoking all at one time. I love when that happens. TY Pete.
