@Trish: Your recent images are great. You've balanced the light much better in those images, which, IMHO, really brings out the details. Those castles are really nice, as is the village scenes. As for the people in the one scene, they look good.

I'm not sure I would want to meet the troll that could live under that bridge.

A troll, why not? Maybe a unicorn as well?

Something that strikes me trish is that the castle stands out like a sore thumb, as though it has a spot light on it. I say spot light because of the more intense light around the water in the second image. If it was your intension to highlight the castle, instead of using light use ambience. Make sure no other object has ambience in the material, apply ambience to the castle material and play with the global ambient setting until you achieve the desired effect. Doing so this way will give the castle the attention you want without throwing the lighting out of balance.

So, will we see a troll or unicorn soon?

Figuring out DAZ content was one of the biggest hurdles (and caused me many headaches) I had when it came to using this program. I was tearing my hair out trying to figure out how it works. I see you had a lot of help in the New Users Thread to try and get it up and running. I hope it is working for you now.

It gets better. It may not feel like it sometimes but it does get better. ;-)

Oh...I nearly forgot...I really like this character. :-)

Sometimes the bad guys are the best characters. Where would a story be without them?

I had to do a lot of experimenting and playing with the content to try and figure out how it works. As a result I have some cleaning up to do but everything works for the most part and I find playing and learning more fun than organizing my content. %-P

Knowing I have something.. and finding it.. is way too much like RL for me but thats how my content is. I often find things, looking for other things. I go "huh", so that is where that went, particularly the "other format".

I love that outfit on your last image.

The wicked witch doesn't scare me. Flying monkeys, however... shudder. Nightmares forever from those little creepers.

standfast; flying monkeys you say.....LOL....well its fixed....yea!!! that is the problem I was having could not find anything then I didn't know who it fit....then had to remember the artists name.....I was insane now I just go to my products or smart content...I can't hardly do anything with-out pictures...Studio is a whole new animal for me....but if you have trouble in Bryce...that is pretty easy for me...well back to artwork...Trish

    Trish-
To change this up a bit, (going to use these left and rights as if WE are looking at her) try playing with this if you get time- go to about the 10 o'clock position (possibly 11 o'clock) and UP- so that the light would shine on the side of her face AND the top of her shoulder (on our left) and try a pale blue anywhere from 10% to 20% (for starters.) If you want more dramatic lighting, that would give more imbalance to the lightset. Right now, she's pretty evenly lit with some shadowing on our right. Would love to see her with more OOMPH coming from our left.

PS- To everyone else reading this, Trish and I chat behind the scenes and we're discussing creative options to explore lighting. I'm not picking on her, it's a nice render! :)

@Trish: That first figure is way cool looking, just glad I'm looking in from the outside. Love the colors you used for the second figure, and those last two remind me of an episode of Star Trek. They all are really nice. But I do agree about the lighting, which seems to get almost everyone until the light goes on.

I'd like to say the lights gone on for me, but I still struggle with it. Maybe it's just a dim bulb. ;-) The witch image looks great. Had you ever given thought to applying a bit of glow to the orb? Maybe a sphere inside with a high ambient setting, or some such thing. David has a tutorial about using ambient to make objects glow. Personally, just a bit of green glow, I guess the orb is green?, in that orb would be the eye catcher.
