I was surfing the internet this morning looking for some cool old gas stations and garages to use as backgrounds for some car renders and I found this photo. Recognize this old gas station? It is the original Rosies Gas station that the sketchup model is made from. I thought I would post this for those of you who know that model...cool huh?

    :-)

    Ah, the good old daze!
I remember seeing gas stations and garages looking like that back in the day as well!

I don't know how many of you guys are into NASCAR racing but I'm am considering I've been exposed to it all my life and I have relatives in the sport.....their last name is Allison. Anyway, I found these three cars here http://www.gtainside.com/en/download.php?do=cat&id=116 downloaded them, converted them from GTA to obj format and when I opened the first one, I was blown away by the detail. The chassis alone is full detailed. Each car I opened after the first one was very detailed as well. Read the Read Me file and found out they were ripped from the NASCAR 2013 game.

Nice Texaco station, I don't have a membership there, but that is a nice station to be sure.

Those look like nice well detailed models, while I enjoyed NASCAR while I was growing up, I kind of lost interest in the 80s, when they stopped using real cars and started building cars specifically for NASCAR.

I kind of lost interest because of that reason too but in the back of my mind the interest is still there. It's from being exposed to it all my life and some things you just can't shake.

I fully understand that, I still enjoy watching a race now and then, but it isn't the same when the cars really aren't real cars converted to race cars, I grew up going to Englewood Speedway, Englewood, CO, it was a lot of fun watching races live!

You got that right, not real cars anymore, plus too many rules and regulations. All the races this year so far have mainly accounted to them just driving around the track with not much excitement (like it use to be).

That's a nice little gas station model Robert. I went to the Poserworld site and registered, but it would not let me have it until I paid for a membership....bummer!

This old 'Taxeco' gas pump looks good over at sketchup's 3dwarehouse.

Although you need to strip out some of the scene.

The garage looks nice, But it's not for me at this time if it''s not free. /Edited - an example of why I'm not on Facebook or Twitter.

Slightly OT, but I just found this article from last year. It's nice to see some love and attention being paid to older buildings, rather than them just demolishing the stuff. A few years ago an old deco cinema that I used to frequent was demolished for a block of flats.

Oh yes, look again and you can see the harmonic balancer (crankshaft pully) and the fan pully with a belt. The block is bright red.

WOW!...this is very cool. So do you think they restored the original pumps out front? Just awesome.

I picked this little beauty up this morning over at the Sketchup warehouse. The tires were kinda screwed up with color zone trouble, BUT the spare was perfect on the rear. So I made four copies of the spare and placed them on the car. With a little DZfire shader help it turned out awesome with detail. It has an engine in it also with all the wireing and belts. Big sized file after converting, but still loads fast and no hesitation on camera panning.

NOW...TO CUT THIS BABY UP INTO A NICE HOT ROD NEXT!

its summer time and we were busy getting the property ready for the kids to be out of school and and everything else, painting and mowing and vaccinating the animals
its also racing season so we pulled the drag cars out and started tuning them up new tires and test laps

the body shell is done and im starting to work on the engine/ transmission now
so far i have most of the hoses done and im doing the plug wires(yes it will be very high poly)
the nose of the car will be a 1 piece flip up style like a drag car
exterior will not be mapped and the engine will have details for those who want to show it off
it wont be anytime soon but i will post progress pics when new parts are done
